So, we all know that most of the crap the announcers share during games is based on what they glean from the coaches and players during the days leading up to the game.
I was shocked early on when Collinsworth was commenting on how the new offense was coming around, that Dak was playing better and protecting the ball, but that it would take some time for the team to get really proficient at it. Blah blah blah…..what really shocked me is when he said the Cowboys only had half of the offense actually in and that they hadn’t even started on the protections to be used for 7-step drops and the plays that go with that. What?!
How is that even possible? I didn’t expect the new schemes to be perfected, especially with no preseason action for starters, but how can the offense and the protections required for deeper drops not even be in yet? Is that normal? I was shocked to hear that….not as shocked as I was by all the penalties and how poorly we played, but shocked.
