F-22 fighters intercept Russian military planes 55 miles off Alaska

This is fairly normal in Europe, when I lived in Norway you would hear about jets being scrambled to intercept Russian planes weekly, they never violated the airspace though. They do violate Swedish airspace fairly often even going so far as to simulate nuke runs on Swedish targets

yawn

In both cases, the Russian planes entered the Air Defense Identification Zone, which extends about 200 miles from the coastline. They did not enter sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada.

"All 6 pilots pooped their pants upon seeing the F-22s before bugging out and heading home"

For some reason they left that part out...

55 miles out is still too close, well within cruise missile launch range.
