Just curious if anyone else is watching this.

A fan attempted to catch a foul ball in the 2nd deck and went over the railing and fell on the fans below him on the lower level.

Seems to be pretty bad. hope everyone is alright. I think the fan is on his way to a trauma unit.

I just turned on the game and they said he was responsive and alert. He's being treated at JPS. The people he fell on are ok and being treated at the ballpark.

Pretty scary stuff.

Must of been pretty serious for him to be sent to JPS and I am assuming he was transported via helicopter?

Whats stupid is Arlington Memorial Hospital maybe a mile a way, but they taken them all the way to JPS in downtown Fort Worth. Thats the hospital / insurance business for you.

wrong.

the rangers hospital is the medical center of arlington where all the players go with injuries.

that is about 10 minutes south of the stadium on matlock.

This fan was taken to jps because of the trauma unit there, it had nothing to do with insurance. The decision was made to take him there because of that specific trauma unit imediately.

I was watching on t.v. when it happened. Gave me chills just thinking about it.

Arlington's Trauma Unit is a level 2 or 3, iirc. JPS has a Level 1 trauma unit. Don't know about you, but I want to go where they are best prepared to deal with the injuries. Arlington is not prepared for head trauma and would have had to transfer him out anyway. Even if Arlington was able to handle the trauma case, it would not have made a difference about insurance. The patient would have been treated. The on scene personnel made the correct call to take him to the most appropriate facility to care for the patient.

Wow, this sounds scary. Is there an article on this anywhere? I'd like to see if there's a follow-up story.

KRLD, 105.3 The Fan had some info on it. Haven't looked around for it elsewhere. They have a video of the broadcast somebody put up on youtube. It doesn't show the fall, thank God, but it shows the reactions.

All of the local news sites have it. The best place would be the Rangers site though.

There were talking about this on morning joe this morning. Did not show the fall but showed the reactions of some of the umps/refs and players and it must have been pretty bad as they were doing some serious cringing and seems like you could hear fans in part of the stadium just gasp.

Hope the fan does ok. Don't know if he was pushed, slipped or jumped on his/her own though.

I turned on the game after it happened and they said he was reaching for a foul ball and lost his balance.

right, that is why I said he was sent to jps, it wasnt about insurance and he was never even set to go to the medical center of arlington, which is where the rangers players all go normally.

I am not sure if you were agreeing with me, backing me up or disagreeing with me I can never tell what people mean on this board anymore.

Nolan Ryan personally delivered the foul ball he tried to catch to him at the hospital.

No he's not!

:muttley:

Yes he is too.

Theebs was saying they transfered him to JPS because they had a better trauma unit than AMH and Rackat was backing that claim up.
