It's always funny to think back to what we, as fans, thought of certain players. I thought about this last night after I saw that Michael Mayer caught his first TD pass yesterday. There was a lot of discussion here with people really arguing over the TEs. Seems like the "scouts" and some got it right as Kincaid and LaPorta have been more productive than Mayer and Washington, granted one could argue that LaPorta and Kincaid have better QB situations.

I seem to recall some pretty heavy discussions on Tank Dell. I think one guy said he'd be the best WR in this draft. Not sure about that but Dell is playing really well, better than I thought. Jalin Hyatt was another one people were big time on (with others saying he was overrated). He's been OK but that could also be the crappy QB situation in NY.

Two years ago we had some pretty big discussions about what to do if Kyle Hamilton slipped. Some said he was too slow to play S but it appears he's a legit playmaking S (again, he's in a great defensive system in Baltimore).

Good stuff.

I actually love looking back at the draft and finding where I was wrong, and even more importantly, why.

One of my big swing n a misses was Dayvion Nixon. I really thought he was going to be good. Never played much for the Panthers, and I think the Seachickens already cut him.

Most of us who think we are right a lot, are actually just remembering the players we were right about.

I get a kick out of it every year, when someone falls in love w/ a player in the draft and just thinks the world will explode when we don't take him. Hey, remember that kid who just thought we had to trade everything and the moon for Mark Ingram? I think he even left the boards when we didn't.

Kiper actually had Nixon close to the top 15 at the end of that season

Alot of times group think comes into play. Either a player or position gets talked about a few times and it just rolls. I always find instances where there is polarity to be more interesting. Hamilton, Delpit was another. Gibbs last year

2022 was funny in a good way because alot of people had their heart set in Green or Johnson at OG and we would up with the better player

Yep. Going a bit further, we tend to latch onto things such as combine performances. Hamilton was said to not be athletic enough or fast enough to play S, for example. Or some go crazy with production, remember when people claimed Ramsey was going to be a bust because he had like 2 interceptions in college.

It's also a reminder why we are all pounding away at a keyboard and not being paid hundreds of thousands or millions to scout and pick players for a NFL team. LOL.

Although I am 96.7% positive that this board could do a better job picking 2nd rounders than Jerry and his dopey son.

The one that stands out to me was 2013 draft when most Cowboys fans lost their minds we traded down instead of drafting Shariff Floyd. We took Travis Fredrick later in round 1 when many said he could be taken in 2nd round.

I was cheering loudly, absolutely loved the Fredsy pick. Never understood the lovefest w/ FLoyd. I wasn't impressed.

It’s always fun to look back and see who you were right about and who you whiffed on. It’s a little too early to tell, and I don’t want to be right, but it’s looking like the Mazi and Schoon picks were bad.

Laporta has been a stud…I liked him in the 2nd but he’s outplaying that draft ranking.

There was a lot of talk about the TEs but fortunately for us Ferg has turned into a DUDE.

Yall better stop acting like yall don't know my name

As for Hamilton. He's still not a safety. He's basically a slot cb which he does very well. He rarely plays safety
