It's not going to be the same without him and if Edgar leaves the fishing life I don't know if I'll watch it next season.

On After the Catch they said Jake was taking some coursework to be a captain, so I'd imagine he's the natural to do it.
I can't see Edgar leaving completely, but maybe just doing every other season, king crab on and opies off or something like that.
Gonna be really hard tonight seeing Phil's death unfold. It's hard to even envision how the show will be without him.
I like Bill on the Kodiak, too. He is another take no bs kind of guy.

Good to see the boys are at least down to e-cigarettes.
The show is going to be strange without Phil. And I will really miss Edgar if he leaves, he has always been one of my favorites.
I have always like Wild Bill when they had him on, the one that I am surprised that is growing on me is Kieth. I never cared for him but I think his daughter trying to get him of the chew softened him up for me.

I loved the After the Catch, too. Those clips of him and all the stories, it was laughter and tears.
And those bird feeders! Wow! haha

Should be very interesting.
Phil was my favorite captain by far. Tough to see him go.
Yeagermeister;3459255 said:The way Josh talked on After the Catch it seemed like he was but I doubt that. He doesn't have the experience to pull that off. I would think the guy that filled in this season or the other guy that took over when he had problems before would take over.
SaltwaterServr;3459274 said:Most likely a third party. It hasn't been said that either of the sons have the requisite Coast Guard licenses to be the Captain of the Cornelia Marie.
Josh mentioned in an interview on The Tonight Show that they may have to skip one of the seasons next year. There are some kind of issues coming up, and they're trying to get a loan to secure a full ownership in their ship. I think he mentioned it was a few million they needed at least.
They are auctioning off a bunch of their Dad's old possessions to donate to either a Children's Cancer Research and Treatment Hospital or just children's cancer research in general. Well, they're splitting the proceeds between that and a charity to support the families of fisherman lost at sea.
They showed Phil and his birdhouses two seasons ago when they did a segment on After The Catch showing the hobbies of the Captains in the off season. Andy Hillstrand runs a dude ranch for kids as a summer camp I think.
They showed a series of Phil's houses, and the other Captains first kind of gave him some crap about it despite they had known he does it for years on end.
Yeagermeister;3459288 said:Now that you mention it Josh did mention they were going to overhaul the boat before going fishing again.
SaltwaterServr;3459347 said:Yep. Josh said on TS that Phil was smoking 9 1/2 packs a day at one point, before the blood clot issue.
