If DE is really the BPA can they afford not too?

Gotta pay parsons. Will then move on from dlaw as well as any older DE on the roster. If the other younger guys develop they mat not be able to keep them, if they dont then they can pay them cheap but still lack talent. The bpys have been lucky to get good production out of some cheap vets but that may not always be the case and drafting the best available might be the best thing to do depending on who else is there.

Not sure you can have enough quality edge players. Realistically who knows how much DLaw has in the tank at this point, and Armstrong is likely gone after this season. If Sam Williams doesn't continue to develop we could see the Cowboys in a scramble to find DEs sooner rather than later.

It's certainly not a must draft type of position for me, but if you have a guy you like that falls in your lap I can't see passing up.

Coverage of current DL & any draft prospects.
I still laugh that they now call a DE .. Edge ....I guess that is like a specialty....

Anyway, if a "DE" is there at 26 and is BPA, do they select him?
When the Cowboys were strictly a 4-3 team, DE & DT were pretty much self explanatory but now it's kind of blurred with the 3-4 which is different with OLB being the edge guys and DE's being inside guys. That's why they are forced to be more specific.

absolutely. Edge rusher is the most premium position outside of QB.it doesnt matter if our 1st round pick this year wouldn't be starting majority of the snaps at his position or whatever silly stipulations so many on here keep regurgitating. If you can get a quality rusher, take him. Hopefully would lead to Parsons playing more LB.

Pass Rush makes the defenses job much easier and hides many deficiencies.

Yah, going to have to move on from Lawrence in order to afford Parsons, Diggs, Lamb. No question about it.

Again, BPA? How far off is the next guy and what position does he play? I would be hard pressed to ever pass on a stud DE.

Yes, if a stud DE is there, must take him. As DLaw, need to look at his eventual replacement, and I am tired of their 4th and 5th round DE projects. Then tell us how they weren't used correctly in college.
Apparently the coaches here did not know how to use them either.
Armstrong is the only one that has really produced anything, but he is not the long term answer.

Sam Williams looks good, will see how he progresses this year, but still need another.

So you would take the DE over Bijon?

Yes I would. RB deep draft, so yeah, as a sure fire DE stud is hard to find. If about the same grade though. Then I would go RB based on need for players of equal value.
Because Robinson contributes right away. A DE may not play as much at first. Unless, like I said, he is a difference maker sure fire impact, right away. Similar to Parsons.

DE, OG, then a RB as fix the OL, a 3rd round RB along with Pollard should be just fine. Pollard should be 100% around June possibly.

I can see this. It'll be very interesting. I could see a pass rusher, Mayer, or Gibbs being the pick at 26.

They arent going to find a major impact player inside, but they should be able to find some nice role players. As for instant impact guys, Benton is probably the only real difference maker in run defense. Smith maybe as well, but I dont see him being as consistent there as Benton. There are flaws there

Won’t surprise me at all if Will McDonald is the pick at 26.

If Bryan Bresee is still there at 23, let's say, are you willing to move up from 26 to get one of the highest rated DT in the draft? The Giants may be interested in him to replace Tomlinson.
