Favorite fly fishing waters?

You should try the south platte too. Can be heavily fished too but you can always find a nice stretch of river to yourself though. The Taylor is nice too. Where do you live?

I'm in Dallas. Not a lot of flyfishing around here, although the Mountain Fork, three hours away near Broken Bow Oklahoma actually has year round trout, not just stockers, believe it or not.

I'm not too familiar with the South Platte. Is it a spring creek?

I'm from a TINY town in New Mexico called Jemez Springs. I grew up fishing, it's what I did after school, on the weekends, anytime really. The San Juan is a great place.

Man, that must have been a beautiful place to grow up. I know it's not for everyone, but I love that high desert. I really enjoy the drive on Hwy 550 from Albuquerque to Aztec. I'm flying in to Albuquerque this afternoon so I'll be taking that drive tonight on my way to the river. Can't wait...

Looking back it really was great. I didn't always think so when I was younger. But I can remember being able to jump on my dirtbike with my fishing pole and go anywhere I wanted. With such a small town, my graduating high school class was 20, I knew most everyone. Pretty unique place. So many wild stories involving bored mountain kids, sometimes I wonder how I still have all my fingers and both my feet..Lol

You grow up in Jemez springs? I grew up on the east side of the sandia's so I can totally relate to the "mountain kids" thing. I still consider the Jemez my home water. The place will always be special to me.

I hear you. I was fly fishing from a very young age and then moved to dallas when I was 22 or so. I'm 41 now. It's the single worst thing for me in terms of living here. I've been to the Guadalupe and hated it. I really like lower mountain fork though. You ever ff for bass? I can't say I do much of it but I do have a boat and fish Hubbard a lot if you ever want to go,shoot me a pm.

Jemez Springs it is. It's amazing someone else knows the name..Lol

It really is a great place. It's been a few years since I've been back, need to go and visit. We lived behind soda dam on the top of the mountain. You could see down the entire Jemez valley.

Oldman River in Alberta, Canada. Chateauguay in Quebec is the best technical river I have ever been to.
