Childress: Favre in walking boot, has stress fracture
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 25, 2010 3:43 PM ET
Minnesota's loss to Green Bay Sunday night will be costly in more ways than one.

Vikings coach Brad Childress revealed at his press conference Monday that Brett Favre is in a walking boot. An MRI revealed Favre has two fractures in his ankle: an avulsion fracture and stress fracture. They will not require surgery.

It's worth noting the injuries can't be overly devastating, because Childress wouldn't rule anything out about Favre's status this week, calling him "day to day."

Childress: "Worst officiated game I've seen"

Vikings coach Brad Childress and his incongruous Barry White voice is known for keeping his cool after games. But Sunday night's game was different than most.

He criticized his quarterback Brett Favre for not playing within the team's system, but Chilly saved his most heated comments for the officiating in the game. Speaking on KFAN, Childress was unusually animated when talking about the late facemask call against Vikings tackle Phil Loadholt.

"The guy hadn't called a penalty all night long. I don't know if he got religion or what happened. He didn't make a call all night long and now he calls a face mask. C'Mon now. Come on!" Childress said, sounding suspiciously like this guy.

"That's the worst-officiated game I've seen now," Childress said. "That referee came over and apologized to me for not calling a hold on the screen and scramble of Rodgers. That's his job. Look at the quarterback and look the left tackle. Look at the left tackle hold his tail off!"

What a tool, that was a blatant facemask. If that was the worst officiated game, apparently he hasnt been watching any of the Cowboys games.

This will be the excuse given if he retires this week. I can assume Goodell will tell him to use this as the reason instead of serving an embarrassing suspension for the naughty picture messages.

If you ever watch Packer games, you will see that their offensive line gets away with blatant holds every game, every week.

Last night, WR Jones just about ripped the jersey off a Viking defender on a screen pass that turned into a huge gain. No flag.

Its not like he touched the face mask then release it. He grabbed it and held on it most of the play.

The officiating is awful but I didnt hear him complaining last week when he got the majority of the calls going his way.

He got 2 TD's called for his team that were obviously not TD's.

And he should have challenged the GB one also.

But that was a blatant facemask just like Barron's was a blatant hold. I don't know how you can argue that.

thats my point, he is a big crybaby when things go against him and calls are right, but when things are going for him, he loves rubbing it in your face like he did when he called for extra td at end of playoff game last year, etc....

childress is like a child when things arent going his way, a big crybaby! :D
