Obviously Jags are going to take Trevor, they have to...

If we trade up a few spots we might be able to land Fields..guy is a winner

Fields vs 150 million broken up Dak, sign me up!

I think it’s a pipe dream. Fields doesn’t get anywhere close to 10. You would need to give up multiple first round picks and other premium picks to get close to him.

Not gonna happen

We're not a quarterback away. Especially not a Justin Fields quarterback away.
Build the defense.
I value your opinion and respect it but what Tyke1doe said. Also I think Dak is a better qb. The only qb I would trade up for would be Lawrence. He has more body of work than Fields and I think he will better than Fields. Don’t get me wrong, I think Fields will be good. It would take too much to trade up to get him. That is just my opinion.

If the cowboys actually had the #3 pick and fields was available with that pick. Maybe.

there is no chance the cowboys give up multiple picks to trade up for a QB. Nor should they.

If there’s a QB prospect they love available at
10...... it could happen. But I just don’t see fields getting anywhere close to 10.

IMHO

Definitely not in a trade up. We have something called a defence to fix. We gave up embarrassing numbers. We almost let the Giants RB run for a TD if not for the fact the ball slipped out his hands on the last first down the Giants got, and that was in a situation in which everyone in the stadium and on TV knew the Giants would run on that play given the time. If the Giants can run it like that on us and if we don't fix it, think what teams like KC and Tampa are going to do to us on the ground when we play them next season. If we want to have a fighting chance against teams like that, we MUST MUST MUST stop the run and force teams to become one dimensional. We got better with our pass D, and making teams one dimensional in that aspect will help the likes of Donovan Wilson and Diggs feast. But we MUSTN'T give up any draft picks for a QB. IF anything, we should be trading down to get more picks. We're fine on offense if we keep Dak. What we need is defence. At a minimum, I'd like for our defence to be at least average at run D compared to what we were this season and great at pass D (which we started to approach late in the season). This will point the arrow up for us. I'd like for our offense to have more opportunities from within the 50 yardline. That will come from our defence being much improved.

Because it's a stupid idea to trade something like three first-round picks to downgrade your quarterback.

And only to make your defence even worse, if that's some how possible. Oh, and may I remind some people what we have likely on our schedule next year (besides the 17th game if they have it as I don't know who we will face there). As it stands, we're looking at the following since we get the AFC West and NFC South this season. KC, Denver, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccanneers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, our division opponents of course, Minnesota Vikings (3rd place schedule), and the Arizona Cardinals (3rd place schedule). Guess what the Bucs, Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, Cardinals, Saints, Panthers, and Falcons do well. Run the ball. If we want to make next season a successful season, then we better stop the run. Oh, and don't put it past the NFL to use the 17th game to have us play Houston for instate purposes. If they do, we will have even more reason to need to stop the run.

"Fields..guy is a winner"

That's what a lot of folks here said about Kellen Moore, yeah he was a great NFL quarterback, right?

It's valid strategy, if you're starting a team from scratch, or near to it.

But this team isn't in that mode, we don't have the time for players like T. Smith, who are near the end of their careers, to stick around until Fields gets acclimated to the NFL.

Or lots of key players that have 3-4 years left on their contract.

Or any guarantee player like Gallup, whose contract is up after this upcoming season, can be re-signed.

We're still in a win-now mode, and the defense is awful.

I believe we don’t have as many good players as people around here think

Agreed, but Cowboys have to build around what they have, can't replace half the team in two years, just aren't that many draft picks, and can't afford a big number of high priced free agents...

Because it costs you very valuable draft picks that can be used to fix the defense
It doesn’t matter if you had joe Montana, Tom Brady or any other QB, if you have the worst defense you will always be watching games, not playing them at the end of the year

How are you going to build a good defense when your QB takes up the whole cap

Rookies.. From 1 year to the next.. Leading to mediocre after mediocre seasons.. Then hopefully it all comes together for 1 season or 2. Even though the NFL keeps making it harder for defenses to defend.

I'm for taking Fields. I think he's got some massive holes in his game but he's athletic, can check it down, and has a great deep ball.

I doubt he's ever elite but I think he can be what Dak Prescott is for this team.

We're not in win now mode.. Ownership might be but that window is closed.

Our division is bad enough to still get in the playoffs but Dallas is a team trending down and a QB contract away from slamming the door on a Superbowl shut.

Giving up multiple first rounders and second rounders doesn’t help rebuild the defense either.

Like I said. Picking a QB at 10. Is one thing.

trading the farm for a QB? No way

Taking fields with your pick if he is available is one thing.

trading multiple picks to do so? Makes zero sense.
