trading multiple picks to do so? Makes zero sense.

Depends what you have to give up.

How much more ability does Fields have over Lance and even Mac Jones? That's the question.

I got Lawrence and Wilson as difference making types.

I got Fields/Lance/Mac Jones as types that could definitely break into that category but I think they will be trailers and not guys that carry the football team.

It's early days though and I need to watch more.

Opposed to paying Dak (who will be 28) AAV of $38m a season for the next 4 years

Honestly the better option for this team probably would be to trade a few 1s for a QB that may have a higher ceiling and use the money they saved from Dak and spend it in free agency. Hell, you might even get a first for Dak if you trade him, so we may only have to give up only 1 of our current future 1s.

Status Quo isnt gonna get it done. Drafting a corner or LB in the first round and waiting a few years for them to develop and waiting for the 3rd wave of free agency will never get us over the hump imo

That's what a lot of folks here said about Kellen Moore, yeah he was a great NFL quarterback, right?

It's valid strategy, if you're starting a team from scratch, or near to it.

But this team isn't in that mode, we don't have the time for players like T. Smith, who are near the end of their careers, to stick around until Fields gets acclimated to the NFL.

Or lots of key players that have 3-4 years left on their contract.

Or any guarantee player like Gallup, whose contract is up after this upcoming season, can be re-signed.

We're still in a win-now mode, and the defense is awful.

We've been in win-now mode for over 25 years.

This is a great example of “fans” who get they’re takes off of 1 game. Fields had a fantastic game last weekend. He looked awesome. Showed me some guts playing hurt. But the game earlier against Northwestern he was 12/27 114 yards 0 td’s and 2 int’s. Please put the brakes on the Fields love.

I mean we are talking a massive haul. 2-3 first, some
Seconds, some 3rds?

I just don’t see how the cap space advantage overcomes that size loss of picks.

Nah, when Emmitt left, Irvin had to retire, etc. a rebuild was in order. Jerry didn't do it the right way but those early 2000 teams were in rebuild mode...

We're not in win now mode.. Ownership might be but that window is closed.

Our division is bad enough to still get in the playoffs but Dallas is a team trending down and a QB contract away from slamming the door on a Superbowl shut.

You go off his whole body of work. Not two games. Fields had an outstanding college career. We would be insane to pass him up if given the chance to get him. He is a bigger and faster Russell Wilson.
And nowhere in that post did he base his opinion on one game. You assumed it.
