As we watch some of the battles at various positions, I thought it would be nice to be able to reference the number of guys at each position that we will wind up keeping. The obvious way to figure this out would be to look at the previous two years (does anybody have this info?) but I'd also be interested in hearing everyones personal prediction.

Good idea Enigma....I'm needing something easier though.

QB: 3

RB: 3 outside shot at 4

FB: 1 possible we don't keep a FB

WR: 5

TE: 3

OL: 9 outside shot at 10

Offense: 24

DL: 7 outside shot at 8

LB: 8

CB: 6

S: 4

Defense: 25

K: 1

P: 1

LS: 1

ST: 3

The last spot depends on where or returners come from.

Could we get away with only 3 safeties and an addition to the DL? I guess it would be tough, because I dunno a guy who I would trust at either SS or FS if the need arose....

If Beriault wins back up SS, and at this point it looks like he should, I can see us possibly moving a CB over to FS in a pinch.

But that is less likely with Hunter traded and Thornton looking shakey, so far.

I'll be shocked if we don't keep Williams, Davis, Beriault and Scott.

I agree with that. At this point (though it is very, very early), it seems we can count on the first three you named. The competition might be between Scott and Reese for a roster spot....

I'd give Scott the edge because he can play both spots and plays well on STs.

I see Reese as a just in case signing we can cut and bring back if needed.

I was just thinking about Reese and Scott last night.. I dont recall hearing a single thing about Reese at camp.. And other than Scott getting the first shot at the FS spot, I dont know that I have heard how he is doing in camp either..

With the WR getting up there in age and the resulting increasing likelyhood of injury we need to keep 6 WR. Just the cost of using two aging starters.

Well our LS is also a TE and I thought we only kept 3 TEs last year including him? If we keep 3 or 4 this year (including LS) I think will depend on if we have someone we can hide on the PS.

I don't think he'll keep 6 CBs if he has a good Safety he wants to keep instead. Last year was a unique case in that...

I think we'll need more LineBackers. LBs are also great special teams players.

I think it's possible we only have 6 players on the DL. (Spears, Coleman, Glover, Ferg, Ellis, and Canty) with Rat on the PS or filling in for an injured player.

So here is my guess...

QB: 3
RB: 3 maybe 4 if TT is our Kick Returner
FB: 1
WR: 5
TE: 4
OL: 9
Offense: 25

DL: 6 or 7
LB: 9
CB: 5
S: 5
Defense: 26

K: 1
P: 1
ST: 2
