First 10 games should be enlightening

Plenty of tough matchups coming the first 10 games which should provide solid information as to the ceiling of the 2024 team. Baltimore, Detroit, Pittsburgh (at least their defense), 49ers, Eagles, and Texans looked good and give us fans an idea as to where this squad is headed. I know a bunch of you are afraid to get into this too much because it threatens the feel good/enjoy the ride vibe you try to embody. These teams represent the type of squads that a championship team must surpass on the playoff stage. The six opponents I named-what would you say is a satisfactory record in those 6 games to give you lots of optimism for playoff success (if the team makes it)? I would say 4-2 (as long as one win is against SF), and 5-1 otherwise. 3-3 or less is more of the same in my opinion.

I think by game six you usually know all there is to know about a team

now there are exceptions but that is the general rule

3-3 is reasonable. I feel we could beat Balt. that would be 1 of 2 of our surprise wins per year. 49'ers, Texas are my safe bets for losses

4-2 becomes a miracle year

anything less than 3-3 is abyismal and no excuse. You go less than that, start telling coaches they arent coming back.

I would say 4-2, with our 2 losses to AFC teams. However, I'm not too sure we can beat the 49'ers as they have been our kryptonite for the last several years. So, maybe 3-3??

The funny thing is they are lots of teams’ kryptonite-they are a top team with lots of talent. In short, they represent the type of team that championship teams must surpass (the playoffs will always have higher end teams).

I remember last year before the GB game, many of the cowardly resident homers were praying that the Rams would beat both the Lions and SF so the Cowboys would not have to face them…

We'd beat SF finally because all of our guys would be UP for the game, the other games, they feel they already won!!

San Fran is the 7th game. I don't know why we'd assume a loss to Baltimore, let alone Pittsburgh. The tough games - Baltimore and DET - are both at home, and Cleveland presents a lot of challenges for the offense that those two don't. Split those games and Dallas should be 5-1 heading into SF.

As for 10 games - come out 6-4 and they should be in pretty good position to make the playoffs. I think 6-4 would be pretty disappointing, overall, but it should be enough.

I'm trying to remain reasonably humble about our shining moments in game one. We'll be tested to a greater extent in the games to come. That's not to say we won't continue to excel, but getting overly excited with the results after one game can easily become a mistake. Right now, I feel compelled to temper my enthusiasm and await further proof of our superior standing at present. Tougher tests very likely await this team. ;)

The Cowboys just need to get the number 1 spot.

I think we'll have a decent idea of what we got after the first 16 games or so. Although I didn't predict GB. LOL

What's wrong with the feel good/enjoy the ride attitude. For me it's better than feeling pissed/and hating the ride....but, that's me....we are all different. I don't even know who we play after NO. Go Cowboys and smile!

Lions and 49'rs are the big regular season games to see if this team is different from the last few years.

If we’re in every game to the end and have an opportunity to win and we blow it well that says a lot too. But if we do our best, and the other team has the ball last and we lose not much you can do about that. It’s all about how you play the game in my opinion never quit.

That’s the good life, one day at a time. Everything takes care of itself. You do the best you can and that’s it. You do stupid things and make mistakes and you should lose.

Of course-for the actual team. We are fans and aren’t competing. Have some fun and answer my question. It won’t hurt or help anything.
I’ve always said that, as a fan, we have the luxury of looking ahead. We’re not playing the game. But I don’t like to get too far ahead of myself.
