Tell me what you all think:

First I will state the obvious, which are the teams opportunity areas.

Roy Williams in coverage

Our coverage period. (deep balls and stopping people on third down)

Pressure on the QB

RG-(Rivera has had it)
I think there are other holes on the offensive line but i think that colombo was okay and will get better and be a solid RT. I am fine with Gurode at Center, I think Flozell will be closer to form next year. I also have high hopes for Mcquistan. I am not happy with kosier at left guard but it is not urgent to me.

NT- NO depth (I dread Furgeson getting hurt every game)
Offensive Continuity

ILB

Defensive PlayMakers

2nd string QB (but someone to still push romo)

Solutions:

We need a TRUE COVER SAFETY. I think Watkins has potential, but we need a bonafied safety that can cover so roy can be ROY. Something he hasnt been since woody left....I would love Laron Landry(LSU) or Reggie Nelson (Gators). If those two are gone by the time we pick, I move down a few picks and get some extra draft choices and draft a CB. The CB draft class is pretty deep (i would even be happy with Ross from texas) he is ranging from the 4th to 6th best cb in the draft and I see him as a capable first year starter. If we draft a corner that means I would be moving henry over to FS. I think he can handle those duties. IF Patrick Willis is still available at pick 23 I stay put and Draft him at ILB. We will still be able to get a good corner in the 2nd. (everything else still stands)

Everthing above limits Roys need to cover. Gets him closer to the line, and that Gives us one Defensive Playmaker right now. Any option i listed at free safety gives us a better option at a playmaker at FS than we have now, and it allows Terrence Newman to be able to gamble sometimes, making him another playmaker on the field.

I cut Al Singleton if his contract is not up and let carp and ellis share outside linebacker duties. Carp should be starting by the end of 07.

If we are not able to get Patrick Willis i hold serve with Ayodele. He will definitely be better in 07, and he was our second best LB this year. I think we are stuck with Bradie James because of the size of his contract. He played well early on but then he fell off. Maybe he will get that fire back.

Nose Tackle Dept...I draft in the 5th round Stanley Doughty or Paul Soliai. We dont need a playmaker here, we just need someone Clog the running Lanes and occupy two people. Both of these guys are mamouth of men, that can fill that role, and one of the two will be there. Not only that we all know Alan Branch is out of the question.

2nd string QB- I would love for drew to stay, but i dont think that will happen so in the 4th round I draft Chris Leak or Trent Edwards. I do that if bledsoe stays or not.

3rd Round- Will Arnold (LSU) or Sampson Satele (Hawaii)

6th Round-Tyrone Moss (power runningback) barber needs 3 to 4 strides to be a power back. Moss starts out with power.

7th Round-another offensive lineman...receiver....or ILB.

:welcome:

Pat Willis is the only lb I would like us to take. If he's not there we need to go oline IMO.

I don't think we shold trade down, I think we should go OLine and passrush 1 2 and 3, in no particular order, BPA in those areas. Until we fix both sides of the line, you can have Jerry Rice/Emmitt Smith/ on offense, and they will never have time to catch a pass or a hole to run though. And on defense, if you have Deion Sanders and, eventually Sanders' man will get open if you don't have a pass rush.

i just feel like the only lineman that are first round picks are the ones that are listed as top 10 picks. I dont think there is much difference in a late first round and and early 4th.

True, but you never know what might happen. Especially before the combine.

This is all that I can find that I disagree with.

I don't think Chris Leak has the talent to even be a competent backup in the league. I would rather see Dallas take a guy like Drew Tate (if he's available) in the 3rd/4th or Chad Henne... the goal being to draft a guy that has run a pro-style offense for 2-3 years in college. Bledsoe won't be hanging around to hold a clipboard.

Good post however I would say with the crop of WR coming out this year I would love to see Dallas looking at WR considering our 2 top WR are in their 30's.

We are not drafting a FS in the 1st round. And there is no way we would trade down to get a FS.

Watkins is gonna be our guy. He is only a rookie and once again people are pre-maturely losing hope in him. I remember the talk of how disappointing guys like Carp were and now all the critics have been silenced.

Watkins was beat twice deep this year (Once Roy was picked by a ref and the other Ellis wiffed McNabb going unblocked). What else has Watkins doen to deserve the hate? KD and RW were the ones being beat against the Saints and Newman was the one who got beat TWICE against the Colts (1 being the TD to Wayne and the other was a deep ball to Harrison). I am not attacking RW, KD or Newman but simply stating that people do get beat and you cant just replace everyone it happens to.

If anything is done at FS position we will address this in FA. People are talking about Deion Grant and Ken Hamlin. We already picked up Parrish so we have that option or the other two guys are popular choice amongst the mob around here.

As for drafting an ILB... I am not alone on this one but I believe Carp and Akin would be the best 2 ILB we could possibly put on the field next season. I understand Carp is playing OLB but there has been talk of him being inside. Bradie James' performance this year has been enough to make assumptions he will be on the bench next year (unless he has a great off season). So this leaves us with Akin, Carp and Ware. Burnett could play the other OLB to add much needed speed to the LBers. We should also make a splash for a guy like Thomas or Briggs to play the position.

I am all for the idea of getting NT depth through the draft along with positions like CB and WR.

Another postion that concerns me is guard which I think we will handle via FA.

Welcome to the board.

I would like to go OL in the 1st if the opportunity is there. But, It probably won't happen since we haven't drafted an OLineman in the 1st rd in years.

I agree with you.

We AREN'T drafting any FS in the first day.

CB? Could be.

Guard? Probably.

NT? I would have to think so.

QB? I beginning to think not. I'm betting we go with a vet as backup and continue to develop Baker.

WR? Almost have to.

RB? Only if JJ gets traded.

ILB? I think we need better depth than Fowler. Maybe an ILB that's good against the pass in order to play in obvious passing situations.

OLB? I don't think so unless they envision moving Carp inside.

Bledsoe needs to go, unless he can accept a backup role. Chris Leak is 5'11", he isn't going to make it in the NFL, and nobody is going to be dumb enough to waste a draft pick on him

although I think your solution for FS is bad, we don't need another rookie there, sign a solid veteran such as Deon Grant, and have him and Watkins go at it for the spot, Watkins needs experience, but has the talent, it would be counterproductive to spend a much higher pick on the same type of athletic ability
