First time poster but avid reader. I don't want to seem unduly negative after this loss. However, I've made some conclusions about this 2006 team.
1. Bledsoe has a big arm but he is imobile, does not make fast decisions, and does not have a quick release. His attributes are best situated in a down the field passing attack with a powerful offensive line. He has neither. This OLine is trying to work its way to being average. TO is at his best running slants and getting YAC. If you want to see the real TO then we have to bite the bullet and get Romo in. Romo will make a bunch of mistakes, but at least he is less of a liability with this OLine and he appears to think/release much quicker than Bledsoe.
2. Our defense may be a bit overhyped. All of the guys that are mentioned the most are in their sophomore season. DWare, Canty, Spears, Ratliff etc... I'm seeing some guys playing in a sophomore jinx like way. Our defense was outplayed yesterday period. We got no pressure on the quarterback, and that is the only way to measure your defense. The Eagles scored 31, had a monstrous amount of yards, and their quarterback looked like he just came back from a picnic. Our QB looked like he came right back from Vietnam. We need to stop thinking so much, and just turn some guys loose.
3. We've got no creativity. For the life of me our offense and defense look way too vanilla. At first I thought we were holding back our playbook during preseason. Now I realize that we're just a vanilla team. We got outcoached. If I had to call it right now I'd say we finish 9-7, with a locker room full of players who walk around like they are probowl caliber.
