First time poster but avid reader. I don't want to seem unduly negative after this loss. However, I've made some conclusions about this 2006 team.

1. Bledsoe has a big arm but he is imobile, does not make fast decisions, and does not have a quick release. His attributes are best situated in a down the field passing attack with a powerful offensive line. He has neither. This OLine is trying to work its way to being average. TO is at his best running slants and getting YAC. If you want to see the real TO then we have to bite the bullet and get Romo in. Romo will make a bunch of mistakes, but at least he is less of a liability with this OLine and he appears to think/release much quicker than Bledsoe.

2. Our defense may be a bit overhyped. All of the guys that are mentioned the most are in their sophomore season. DWare, Canty, Spears, Ratliff etc... I'm seeing some guys playing in a sophomore jinx like way. Our defense was outplayed yesterday period. We got no pressure on the quarterback, and that is the only way to measure your defense. The Eagles scored 31, had a monstrous amount of yards, and their quarterback looked like he just came back from a picnic. Our QB looked like he came right back from Vietnam. We need to stop thinking so much, and just turn some guys loose.

3. We've got no creativity. For the life of me our offense and defense look way too vanilla. At first I thought we were holding back our playbook during preseason. Now I realize that we're just a vanilla team. We got outcoached. If I had to call it right now I'd say we finish 9-7, with a locker room full of players who walk around like they are probowl caliber.

you forgot #4

4. We played in the most hostile environment that any team will see this year.

Outcoached!!! That is exactly the way I see it as well. We never really took shots down field, although we couldn't even get time to throw passes due to thier defense making our line look like a pop warner team.

The defense and offense were very vanilla, at least other teams have a blue print to beat us. Maybe Parcells should coach a little more instead of remaining silent on the sidelines.

they couldnt drive on our defense. we gave up 3 touchdown drives because of HUGE plays. essentially pat watkins messing up.

our rookie free safety got caught up in the game. Another reason we lost because he gave up 3 plays. he should have rolled over to the tight end. not to henrys side.

double moves crippled him.

Mcnabb was 2-12 on third down. 2-12. we were 7-18 with awful bledsoe.
too bad we couldnt have a free safety cover his man downfield. might have made a difference.

still it is all a learning experience. I still cant believe people act like we lost 38-0. It is kind of sad.

I htink dallas can go out and win the next 5 in a row. I really do.
We have the team to do it. And no notevery team can blitz us liek philly did. it would be reckless. I think we can go 5-0 and suprise a lot of people over the next 5 games.

Your absolutely right that not every team can blitz us like Philly. But the contending teams all can. The Bears, Giants, Panthers, Seahawks all will...

The Eagles couldn't do anything with us on third downs. Unfortunately it was their first downs that blew our defense up. 87 and 40 yard bombs are grossly unacceptable for a heralded defense. Pat Walkins messed up royally on his coverage but I maintain that with a corner blitz the QB should have never been able to get that ball out.

We do have the talent on paper to go 5-0 over the next five games, but we have not established ourselves as a team with consistency. In this league contending teams have consistency.

Lets relax about the contending talks.

we have a good team. every team has off games. the patriots had it in super bowl season. i mean the vikings gave the bears a heck of a game and should have won. the bears are not indestructible. they just played some poor defenses. and we do not have a poor defense. we just got killed by our FS three separate times. thats honestly what led to 190 yards of offense. three plays 87 td 60 yarder to lj smith and 40 yarder for td. that means philly only had about 180 yards of everything else. Im not saying that means our defense dominated but if not for those three covergae mistakes by watkins. we dont really know how the game would have been. same iwth the 17 points given up by deadslow. we juust dont know.

except that you can see that is what killed us more than anything and we still had a chance to win. i would say 80% of the teams in the NFL would not have that chance against philly yesterday.

we can win the next 5 in a row. I really believe we can. even those three on the road against carolina washington and arizona. i really do think we can.

it wouldnt suprise me with how bad things went on sunday and we STILL had a chance to win. or at least get into overtime.

It looked like there were several play action passes called that were designed to go down field but Bledsoe didnt pull the trigger which is mind boggling to me when you have TO and Glenn single covered. Im sorry when TO is 1 on 1 the ball needs to be thrown I dont care how close the coverage is.

i couldnt have said it better myself. How do we not get into a shotgun formation? how do we not take shots downfield.

on defence, how can we not blitz. it seems BP/Zimmer play not to lose on defence instead of attack. Look at the great defences, they attack.

There it is right there. Outstanding point. It's as if we already know the pattern of how things will go. Next week at home against Houston, we'll look pretty above average and the difference as compared to yesterday will be basically night and day. But put us in a hostile environment on the road later in the season and I'm afraid we'll see something resembling yesterday.
