Yes, it's Fish but let's be honest, it's probably a debate we are going to hear until the draft is completed. Couple of quick nuggets to factor in

  • Fairly strong RB draft class
  • Strong free-agent year for RBs
  • All signs point to strengthening the running game as a major off-season priority
  • At best, rookie RBs will give you 4-5 quality years.

The only problem in NOT taking Bijan is if he's there at no.26 he WILL be BPA.
His presence on the field would certainly make the 49er's bring their Safties down and LB's honest....just saying.

Cut Zeke!!!! You sign Pollard to a three year contract and draft a bell cow from the second to 5th round. Most importantly after cutting Zeke, you draft a power left guard and keep Tyler at left tackle. One of the best running games in the league if we do that.

We shouldn't resign Pollard or draft Bijan in round 1.

The RB position can easilly be addressed at some point day 2 of the draft. There are no first round rbs on Philly or KC thus proving you can make a super bowl without spending a lot of draft capitol on rbs.

I am hesitant to resign Pollard bc of what just happened with Gallup who wasn't the same guy after the injury. We can't just sign him to a big contract with no consideration of his injury. He may never regain the explosiveness so, unless he is willing to take a 1 year prove it deal, might be better to avoid him.

Tag and keep, or if team starts going south SHOWCASE AND TRADE .
Do not let him just walk.

I know some don't wanna hear it but you are right........I can't him NOT being a top 3 player left on their board if he drops to 26.

But Philly and KC have a running threat at QB (not saying Dak can't be)....its the running threat that also creates gaps in the secondary. This draft has no WR1's and so we need to create space in other ways.
Not saying it has to be Bijan for Bijan's sake, but if he's there take him....its akin to the CeeDee scenario, he's not who we'd necessarily of drafted, but he's a game changer and too good to pass up.

Couple things ..........Philly and KC are loaded/stacked at other positions, they don't need as much impact from their RB. Also, I'm not sure any wanna sign Pollard long-term, tag for a year and that's it.

Agree with all except signing Pollard long-term......tag is enough for me.

In a month we will see if they are serious about tagging Pollard. Was that from a team source, or just media speculation?

The cowboys oline are pretty good at run blocking. Robinson would excel here from what i read but Im not certain that there arent more RBs that would also excel. Its time to move on from Zeke. Franchising pollard is not a bad move if the cowboys medical staff believe recovery from the injury is a non issue.

It all depemds on who else is available at 27 before making that choice. we have many a need and offensive weapons is not limited to just rb position. Id say WR is a much larger need. DT and LB also looms large and my personal preference is to grab a QB 3rd - 5th

This is the mentality of Jones. One or the other, not none or both.

Idiots.

Downey broke it down on YouTube. A three year deal for Pollard would lower his cap hit to like 6 million a season. With the cap rising each year his cap hit would be peanuts. Pollard is not passing on a 3 year 18-20 million guarantee.

What we have learned over the past 20 years is that the RB position is very replaceable.
Pollard is great but do no overpay.
You have Hunt, Moestert, Jeff Wilson, Harris, Jamal Williams, Periene, Rashad Penny.
There are some really talented players available, Revamp the backfield. Sign Penny, Wilson & Moestert. You will probably lead the league in rushing. Speed, power, pass catching.
This is where we need a GM who can look beyond what is on this roster.
You don't win by overpaying Zeke or Pollard.

I thought I had learned my lesson about going RB in round 1. However, I remember the impact Zeke had year one, and the idea of BJ having that same impact on a team that was already 12-5 is enticing.

Getting Bijon would be a wasted pick. Just say no.

Kc has a 1st round rb actually.

Also, chances are bijan doesn't make it to us because eagles take him.
