Do any of you guys use one of those fitness watches? I'm thinking of getting a Samsung Gear Fit because I want to start a workout routine. I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone, so maybe it would work together well with the GF. Like many people, I could stand to take off a few pounds. I've been improving the quality of my meals that I cook, so that's a start. I've almost completely quit drinking soda pop. I have maybe 4 of those a month now when previously I drank those every day.

Will the Gear Fit store data online such as my heart rate during exercise? Will it allow me to download that data in the form of a PDF or a spreadsheet maybe? That would be cool. I used to use a normal heart monitor that gave me my heart rate in real time. Then I used memory mnemonics to remember things like “ten minutes in, heart rate at 140” or whatever it was. Then soon as I was off the exercise machine, I would write all the info down. It was clunky, but it worked. Of course, it required me to concentrate on those mnemonics while I was working out. (If you're not familiar with mnemonics, look up the work of Harry Lorayne.) It would be great if the Gear Fit kept track of my heart rate during all my workouts. Do you think I should go for the Gear Fit or something else?

I have an Apple Watch which has many fitness apps, which essentially converts it to a fitness watch.

I have many friends/acquaintances with Fitbits, and they love them. Fitbit has some functional watches, now.

I used my cell, it has a built in app for that. Just kept it in my pocket when walking. Also, if you don't feel like spending over $100 for a brand name as "Fitbit", there are plenty of other bands which do the same thing for 50% to 75% less the cost. I purchased the "Copper Fit Step FX" By Brett Favre on sale for $19.99 at local Dept. Store. It's a great little gadget and does everything a Fitbit does without all the bells & whistles. Good Luck.

what is next an app for how to walk?
LOL. A friend of mine gets so mad because no matter where we go when I drive, I get a front parking spot. They said, "it's ridiculous how you always get a front spot" I told them, there's an app for that.

Fitbit kinda owns this arena.

I pulled the trigger yesterday. I found a Samsung Gear Fit, the previous version, for $35. I've never felt like I needed the latest model of most things, so this is a low-cost way for me to get started.

I have the gear fit 2. I like it. What I like about it was it works with IOS or Android. I've also had fitbit and Apple Watch...

The apple watch was ok, I did not like the fitbit.
