Strengths: Is aggressive, showing the willingness to come upfield quickly to make hard hits. Fights through wide receivers' blocks to make tackles on running plays to his side. Shows quick footwork. After changing directions, accelerates to full speed quickly and flashes good closing burst to receivers. Goes after pass breakups aggressively and does not hesitate to blow up receivers right after catches. Is good at playing between short and intermediate receivers in zone coverage. Shows the hands and athleticism to get back and intercept passes when the quarterback tries to throw over him to intermediate receivers.
Weaknesses: Does not always play to the full extent of his athletic abilities. Has an upright, choppy backpedal. Lacks the explosive burst to catch up and get in good position when beaten. Is overly aggressive at times, biting on pump fakes and allowing receivers to get behind him.
Bottom line: Carter has had an up-and-down career at Florida State and is somewhat of a cornerback/safety 'tweener. He has a chance to be drafted late and could be a starter in the pros with improvement in his technique and consistency.

3/17/2009 - Tony Carter was upset not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine...The former Florida State cornerback did something about it Monday. He ran the 40-yard dash in a hand-held time of 4.34 seconds or better. Carter, who is up 9 pounds to 179 since the 2008 season, also bench-pressed 225 pounds 17 times during pro timing. "I got pretty good feedback from coaches and scouts," Carter said. Carter was among the former Seminoles who took advantage of pro-timing day on the FSU campus in which NFL scouts and coaches observed them run the 40-yard dash, bench press 225 pounds multiple times and participate in agility and skill drills. "Because we had so many guys not in the combine, this workout became a little more important," FSU strength and conditioning coach Todd Stroud said. "We really had some impressive workouts. Being a four-year starter at Florida State takes a lot of talent. No question, Carter has that. A small but tough 2008 second-team All-ACC pick has been a stalwart for the Seminoles, only missing two games with a knee injury as a sophomore in four seasons. His nine career interceptions and 27 career pass breakups prove he can hang with any receiver; his 12.5 tackles for loss show he's not afraid to mix it up in run support.

I like his experience and the fact he played in 33 straight games..never really seen him play though, so I'll reserve my judgement.

I was looking at the cbssportsline website, and they list him at 5'-9".
I'm not sure that's accurate though.
Carter seems to be an interesting prospect with a lot of speed. Wish he was about 1-2 inches taller. He's going to have a difficult time going against tall, physical WRs.
I'd think he'd be a priority UDFA or a 7th round pick. But then again, he's got a ton of experience as well at a top program, so maybe he can stick . . . .
