Focus has to be inside the trenches

We are all aware we are just not good enough inside the trenches on both sides of the football to realistically compete for a championship. That is where the focus must be.

Unless a top 5 Edge or Top 5 Tackle falls, focus on either an interior offensive lineman or defensive tackle. Linderbaum, Zion, Green, Tyler Smith. Wyatt, Travis Jones.

Drafting another wide receiver or off the ball linebacker just doesn't improve this team that much, but a good trench player can make a huge difference.

Find a way to land both Travis Jones and Sam Williams. Find a way to land a Kinnard/Jurgens or something comparable.

I agree but if a top WR falls prepare to be disappointed.

Yes sir, and I hope the value lies on Oline. This team will go as the line and run game go. We still have some nice pieces, but a young stud or two could reinvigorate the run game. If we can at least threaten a run, we can find our way out of the cover 2 enigma that demolished KM.

My remaining concern is still whether or not these coaches are equipped to handle the task. The signing of a lead blocker as well as the addition of Schottenheimer suggests we are actively trying to fix the problem.

I still wish we'd have signed a solid FA olineman. The loss of LC is also a factor. Steele graded out about the same in penalties against and pass protection, but LC supposedly had a clear edge in run blocking.

I know that QB's, RB's and WR's look tons better when you have a great OL.
I know that CB's and S look tons better when you have great DL.

Right now, Dallas needs to upgrade both.

In the first --- impact player.
After that --- start building and strengthening the lines.

I really hope Dallas goes 1T then LG -- or LG then 1T.....And they get two starters........but I doubt that is the way it falls or how Dallas usually thinks.

No thanks. I’ll pass on drafting for need over bpa. If the bpa is a WR, you take the WR 100%. Not to mention it’s a far more valuable position. Bad idea.

2003 2 Charles Rogers WR Michigan State
2004 7 Roy Williams WR Texas
2005 10 Mike Williams WR USC
2007 2 Calvin Johnson† WR Georgia Tech

Lions lived on BPA. Made the playoffs in 99 and didn't make them again till 2011.

Straight BPA without qualifiers doesn't address team needs and positional value -- it doesn't work.

Great example. It means a lot.

yeah, wr isn’t a team need. The team only brought in 3 first round prospects as 30 visits for no reason. Good effort.

I didn't say they wouldn't draft a WR. I just said drafting BPA by the strictest of definition won't work because BPA sometimes gets you too many of one position and not enough of other positions. Detroit tried that, and it didn't work.

Totally agree
Trade down to 28-32 and take Jones and then trade up to mid rd 2 and take Kinnard
