Imagine the top 8 looking something like this:

Miller
Dareus
Newton
Gabbert
Quinn
Bowers
Peterson
Fairley

With both receivers still on the board who exactly is going to trade up? Our BPA are Jones, Green, T Smith, Watt, Prince. Maybe we can scam the Lions into trading up for Prince but I believe teams like NE, Stl, or Jax who might want a receiver would be wiser to wait until Houston at 11 who I'm sure would trade down. In this case our best move, if we want more picks and don't wanna risk Tyron Smith, would be to take Green and hope Washington takes Jones, then shop Green around.

I bet Washington takes Locker though, so the best I can come up with is getting an extra 5th from them if they don't wanna risk us selling him to someone else. I would be surprised to see Houston, Minnesota, or Detroit draft WR, so the St. Louis Rams would be one happy team, getting their guy and holding onto their draft picks. Anyone picking after Stl who wants to get into the fray would be better served to deal with one of the three above mentioned teams.

Of course for all you Tyron Smith guys (I'm still undecided), the answer to this predicament is very simple.

I bet Newton falls to WASH or I see them trading up for him

perfect fit for Dany and Shanny Boies

You aren't allowed to trade picks that are already selected. We couldn't select green and then trade him.

Isn't that what the Chargers did with Eli?

Why would it be wiser to wait for 11 to trade up? That makes no sense. The teams wanting wrs would all be trying to trade up ahead of the others trying to trade up.

Can't trade players with the lockout in place. Only picks.

Normally, you could. But not under the current labor situation.

Personally, in this situation, where nobody obvious fell to me and I can't find a trade partner who's offering reasonable value, I take Tyron, even if that wouldn't be my preference going in. Sometimes, you just have to make the best of it.

I think people will be surprised to see how far Newton falls. But after the JeMarcus Russel and Vince Young disasters I think Newton won't fool as many people as that cheeze eating grin of his would indicate.

I think any number of teams would be interested in moving up for Jones or Green.

Those are both values at 9 and teams could move up without giving up the farm to do so.

If we stick there Smith or Watt are the likely picks. But we are one of the few teams not at all interested in a WR. StL could definitely move up and take the guy they think best helps their offense grow.

Do teams all values both WRs about the same? I am guessing not even if some teams favor one while others go the other way.

Minnesota may want a WR as well since Rice is a possible loss in free agency and Harvin is still stuffing his pie-hole w/Excedrine and missing games regularly.

You would draft Green then trade him? Players are like cars, they lose value the minute you drive them off the lot. If Green is still on the board at 9, then teams will be climbing over each other to trade for the pick. We don't need a wide receiver.....unless Dez winds up going crazy.
