I used to play a LOT online back when it was legal. Got in a few "free roll" tourneys and placed top 5 and was playing with house money on the weekends.
I get in a $500 buy in one Saturday night. About all the cash I had in that account and I refused to use my own. We're down to the last 6 players out of a good number that started. Maybe like 50 total. First through fifth place pays out.
This one guy who had the username "Snake-something-something" had been getting lucky here and there and had made the final table. The guy talked so much trash, but he had zero strategy on how to play or bet.
So he and I were chip leaders, him just ever so slightly ahead of me. I draw pocket Aces and we end up isolated against each other. Flop comes and it is A-2-2. Boat. I'll take it. He raises me again. I'm guessing he's got the other Ace or an A-2.
Turn comes out something like a 4 or 7. He dumps a ton of chips. Okay, he's been strong since the deal so he's got something going on but I'm not sure what.
River, another 2. Now I'm in a jam. I've got Aces over 2's. He's been betting from the outset like he's got a strong hand. WTH is it? There's a ton of our chips both sitting in the pot.
I go all in. Not the smartest move, but I'm pretty sure I've got the strongest hand. He matches.
Cards turn.
He's got four 2's. I stare at the computer screen and cannot believe it. I was ready to throw the monitor out the window when I looked at his hand.
His pocket cards? 8-2 off suit.
I quit playing after that tourney. I was furious about it for a week. 8-2 off suit and makes four 2's out of it beating my AAA-22.
