This kid might be something special, since we have our Franchise QB we can take him to develop, behind Romo, and down the road if anything ever happens to him (god forbid) we have our insurance.

In case anyone was wondering he is 6'3" 200lbs right now. Div 1AA QB playing for San Diego Torreros.

has very good accuracy, good arm strength, VERY smart, great at reading defenses, was tutored by Harbaugh, and has very good running ability.

He may go as high as the 3rd round, thats too high for a kid that can't play for 3 years (weight = 198) - jmo
interesting prospect though. I'd be looking for him late day 2 if he drops like Romo did.

2006 Season

Named 3rd Team AP All-American for all I-AA players... 1st Team Mid-Major All-American (The Sports Network)... PFL Offensive Player of the Year... USD Most Valuable Player award... In 12 games, Josh made a huge statement on why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation... He led USD to a perfect 10-0 start, and as a two-year starter is 22-2... USD has held the top spot in the Sports Network Mid-Major Poll for 20 straight polls, and entered the Top 25 for the first time in school history on October 2nd, 2006... USD reached a program-best No. 14 in the Sports Network Poll, and finished the season ranked No. 20... Josh, who was named the PFL Player of the Week six times, was named the unanimous PFL Offensive Player of the Year.

He ranked #1 in four NCAA I-AA statistics - total offense (336.7 yards per game), passing efficiency (169.0 rating), total passing yards (3,320) and points responsible for (24.33)... For the season he completed 246-of-371 passes (66.3%) for 3,320 yards and 34 touchdowns; on the ground he rushed for 720 yards and 11 scores on 107 carries (6.7 yards per carry ave.)... Johnson passed for 4 touchdowns six times, and rushed for one or more scores in nine contests... He totaled four games with 300+ yards passing including a season-best 384 yards vs. Jacksonville... In the team's 56-14 win over Dayton, Johnson completed 26-of-31 passes for 316 yards, rushed for 2 scores and even hauled in a 25-yard TD reception... In the PFL clinching 38-21 win at Jacksonville (11-4-06), Johnson set a school record for total offense with 470 yards.

Completed 30-43 passes for 384 yards and 4 scores; and added 86 yards rushing on the ground... In the 44-21 win over Morehead State (10-28-06), Johnson passed for 202 yards and 3 TDs, including a 72-yard bomb to John Matthews, and added 80 yards rushing on 9 carries... In the team's 68-7 win over Valparaiso (10-14-06), he completed 18-of-23 passes for 286 yards and 4 TDs, and added a 3-yard TD run; In 56-3 win over Butler (10-7-06), Johnson completed 19-of-29 passes for 235 yards and 3 TDs, and rushed for 61 yards including a 4-yard TD sprint; In 50-21 win at Davidson (9-30-06), he passed for 310 yards on 27-39 passing & rushed for 127 yards and a 20-yard TD sprint; in 43-17 win at Yale (9-16-06) Johnson passed for 345 yards on 28-35 passing & added 70 yards rushing that included a highlight reel 46-yard TD run; in 41-7 home win over Dixie State (9-9-06) he passed for 293 yards on 20-31 passing.



2005 Season

First Team All-PFL and team MVP completed 70.1% of his passes (260-371) for 3,256 yards and 36 touchdowns... Added 379 yards on the ground with 4 rushing TDs... Three-time PFL Offensive Player of the Week... Tied school-record with 7 TD passes at Valparaiso (all coming in 1st half)... Tossed 5 TDs on 24-37 passing for 375 yards in PFL Championship win over Morehead State... Totaled 8 games with 3 or more passing TDs.



2004 Season

In 2004 was backup quarterback to Todd Mortensen and completed 12-of-22 passes for 135 yards.



High School

Prepped at Oakland Technical High School where he threw for 1,900 yards and 22 touchdowns with just two interceptions his senior season, leading his team to the Oakland Athletic League Championship... Earned First Team All-City, Oakland Chamber of Commerce Prep of the Month and Most Improved Player honors... Named Most Inspirational his junior year when he could not play due to injury... Lettered in basketball where he was named Honorable Mention... Also lettered in track, placing third in the Oakland Athletic League high jump with a jump of six feet, five inches.

10/22/07 - Pioneer Week 8 Offensive Player of the Week: QB Josh Johnson needed only one half to post this week’s impressive numbers in a 62-23 PFL victory against Jacksonville, Saturday. He completed 17-of-22 passes for 249 yards and five touchdowns. Johnson added seven carries for 55 yards and touchdown. The Toreros finished the first half with 380 yards total offense and Johnson was responsible for 304 yards of that total. He also was responsible for six of USD’s eight first-half touchdowns. - Pioneer Sports

10/21/07 - Josh Johnson threw for five touchdowns and ran for another to lead San Diego to a 62-23 win over Jacksonville on Saturday night. Johnson only played the first half as the Toreros (7-0, 4-0 Pioneer Football League) won their 23rd consecutive home game. San Diego scored touchdowns on all eight possessions in the first half for a 56-14 halftime lead. The Toreros, two-time defending PFL champions, have won 34 of 36 games and 19 straight conference games. JT Rogan scored three times, first on a 3-yard pass from Johnson, and on runs of 15 and 13 yards. Rogan rushed for 115 yards on 19 carries. Johnson accounted for 304 of San Diego's 380 yards of total offense in the first half. Johnson, who scored on a 12-yard run, completed 17 of 22 passes for 249 yards. In addition to his TD pass to Rogan, his other scoring throws covered 45, 9, 15 and 18 yards. 10/16/07 - Senior QB Josh Johnson (Oakland, CA; Oakland Tech HS) has accepted an invitation to play in the 2008 East-West Shrine game on January 18th. The college all-star game that features seniors from across the country, will be played at the University of Houston's John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium in Houston, Texas. "We are excited that our senior quarterback Josh Johnson will be given the opportunity to play in the East-West Shrine game," said USD head coach Ron Caragher. "Playing in a post-season all-star game of this magnitude will give him an additional opportunity to showcase his many talents and skills." Johnson, a Payton Watch candidate for the second straight year, currently leads all FCS players in total offense (398.6 yards), passing efficiency (222.1 rating) and points responsible for (28.8 points per game). This season he has completed 107-143 passes (74.8%) for 1,603 yards, 23 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He is now 27-2 as a starter dating back to the beginning of the 2005 campaign. 10/16/07 - Walter Payton Award Watch List Update: Johnson may not play the best competition, but his phenomenal talent comes through anyway. He is tops in the FCS in passing efficiency with an eye-popping 222.1 rating. Johnson has completed 75% of his passes and has thrown for 1,603 yards and 23 touchdowns in five games. Also dangerous as a runner, Johnson has 390 yards on the ground and another score. 10/14/07 - QB Josh Johnson threw five touchdown passes and San Diego extended its home winning streak to 22 games with a 59-19 win over Drake on Saturday.The Toreros (6-0, 3-0 Pioneer Football League) also got two interception returns for touchdowns as their defense forced seven turnovers that produced 28 points. - AP Sports
