Signing Dak was the wrong call at the price we paid. Anyone with any objectivity knew it was the wrong move. But now we are stuck with his horrendous contract.

So if you were the Cowboys GM, what would you do? Here’s what I would do:

1. I’m looking for Dak’s replacement. I’m drafting a QB if I can find one even if it’s in the first round of the grade is there. In fact if the grade is there and it’s a first round pick, all the better.

2. I’m also bringing in a former high round draft pick that has washed out, and a very “toolsy” raw QB for practice squad.

3. I’m trading Parsons if I can get a first and a third for him.

4. I’m shopping the rest of the team’s players. Diggs, Bland, they are all available for the right price. I’m not “giving” players away but if a legit offer comes through, they are gone, if I can manage the cap hit.

5. I bring in a tough as nails coach who has a win now mentality and an offensive mastermind on offense. I would replace most of the coaches, including Zimmer.

6. I sit Dak down and tell him, I paid you $60M per year to carry the team. You aren’t carrying the team. It’s an open QB competition. The cream rises to the top. Go earn your salary or you will be riding the pine for $60M per year.

7. I would tank the rest of this season. A high draft pick solves a lot of problems.

8. I don’t think the OL is that bad. I think the OL coaching is poor and we don’t have a legit running back on the roster. We start churning the roster NOW. Poach practice squad players.

9. We go young and hungry in 2025. If you are underperforming your contract you are replaced with a young, hungry player.

10. 2025 is likely to be another rough season. But you manage the roster for 2026.

11. When Dak gets benched he will want a trade. In some ways, the more dysfunctional the team is the more he will want out. Use the benching to trade him for something.

The one constant the last 30 years has been Jerry and sons......they need to stop trying to be GM, let Will McClay run the show and hire the coaches, and let the coaches coach without any of the Joneses influence or interference whatsoever....

Good plan. Except I'd trade/stockpile picks for the 1st in 2026.
I'd install a system like 2016 and give Lance a shot immediately and see what's there.

Good points all of them except you are forgetting who the GM and Owner is…
Jerrah and he knows football better than anyone… so none of it will happen.
Trade Parsons? Why? Next year he’s going to get a big fat contract and be even more useless than he is already.
Hard as nails coach? Not on Jerry’s watch!
Oh and Dak would not mind riding the pine at $60M per year… not one little bit and he would not ask to be traded either…

So me I’m hoping to see JJ choke on the olive in his drink at some point during the season.
That will provide some entertainment, better than the crap on the field

Sounds like a pretty good plan! But no team will be willing to take on Dak's deal.
You'd have to pay me to take Dak, but if Roseman can unload Wentz AND get the Colts first round pick, you have to hope there is one other owner who is as stupid or desperate. Hell you could even offer the pay half the contract or something. Just get him out of here so we can turn the page.
