Actually not really very many practices. All that expense and trouble just to get away for a few weeks.
You do realize that this was started by the old regime, probably 50 years ago, going to California for training camp,

I mean I don't know when it was started but don't blame Jerry because he kept the tradition going, they usually are doing it for the weather instead of practicing in 104 degrees right now with the humidity up around 80%.. I'm an HVAC contractor and I got to tell you that I just came from a job this morning where is supposed to be the coolest and I was standing in someone's garage with the garage door open where their AC unit was the indoor section for about an hour hooking up some stuff my entire shirt was soaking wet, my shorts were half wet ,and my socks we're wet it is brutal right now to even stand out in this stuff let alone not understand what these dudes would do practicing outside and end up dehydrated cramping and end up injured because of it...

they get the players together in hotel rooms or wherever in the dorms ,they can get camaraderie built away from their family less distractions and also you get the West Coast fans which there are quite a bit of them a chance to at least mingle with the team to me that's a win win

oh and if you ever ran a business you'd know making these trips or business trips they're all tax expense deductions and whatnot ain't nobody worried about some expenses to have training camp in Oxnard CA...:laugh:

Yes I know and realize all of that. And yes I owned my own business for a while then sold it.

Tom Landry and Tex Schramm as you know started it going to Thousand Oaks, yes mostly as a change and to escape the Texas heat.
Jimmy came in, and he kept in in Texas, Wichita Falls, San Antonio. Later on Jerry wanted to go back to California. But now to Oxnard.

Now they have the Star in Frisco with inside AC buildings if and when needed.
I know it is more Jerry and promotional stuff. Keep the team popular in California. And that is ok.

All I was saying look at the expense to move all the equipment and stuff, for 2 weeks. I was not complaining, just saying it could be cheaper. Especially for all those that go on and on about them being cheap in FA to pocket the money. Yes they do not actually pocket it, but some use that as a reason to whine.

Again, you're missing the point they're doing it mostly because of the weather

they're also doing it for the camaraderie, change of scenery, also again so the West Coast fans has a chance to see them and they're not going to practice an AC because they can practice outside where it's around 80 degrees..

which is better they get to practice on grass outdoors, you remember with all the talk about how they can't play on the road on grass, now you wanted to play indoors in the AC? They are literally practicing on the road outside on grass seems like a win win

there is nothing negative about them going to Cali, you're making stuff up to gripe about I think we have plenty of stuff to debate and argue about here this isn't one of them this is a tradition they pretty much always done it yeah sure Jerry and Jimmy made a mistake thinking they just could beat the guys down into the dirt and realize it was too hot to practice in.

you get more accomplished outdoors on grass but in better weather so you can go full out in pads and not have to worry about guys passing out or getting hurt because of cramps. Trust me it's a real thing not just because you know it's a tax write off I'm telling you as an HVAC contractor as a 53 year old man who did do two a days and I played many sports in high school it is absolutely brutal and you have to take too many breaks take too many drinks you can't keep up...

you end up being counterproductive. So what's wrong with them going to California except for the fact that you just think it's a waste of Jerry's money which is also a tax write off lol I think there's so much more upside to it they get to practice against other teams you think another team's going to come here and scrimmage with us when it's 104 outside I mean literally this morning by 10:00 o'clock it was already 90 degrees and I soaked my entire shirt, shorts, and socks and that was only standing there in one place for a little more than an hour.

There's good reason for them to do it and again I don't I don't see why you even brought it up as an there's good reason for them to do i....gain i don't i don't see why you even brought up as an issue I don't get it I I think maybe because you live over here in DFW like me and you wanna go to training camp so selfishly you're upset because they're in California?
