Amendola can't afford mistakes

While Danny Amendola has a solid shot at making this team as the No. 6 receiver he needs to do something on special teams. He fumbled his second punt return Saturday night as it led to a Chargers touchdown.

"I fumbled, but that's just how it goes sometimes," Amendola said. "The guy caught the ball when I was spinning."

Amendola, who also got some work at gunner, had just 4-5 plays on offense and did not have a catch.

you're right and if Martellus Bennett said that about his performance, he'd be cut already..lol

How did he grade at gunner?

Jerry Jones was very mad at coverage ills last night, I missed most of it but stats showed our coverage was abused last night. 1st and 2nd preseason game we are churning the fringe NFL talents.

Our coverage sucked on EVERY punt so no one gunner or otherwise could have scored very high.

His returns were not that bad except for the fumble. But at least the fumble came on a good hit directly on the ball. It didn't just come loose from a random hit to the body. That is not an excuse...he should have had it tucked in better when the hits were obviously coming. But it was indeed one of those things that just happen sometimes. If he learned from it he'll be okay...if not he'll get cut.

Agreed.

I'd only say that his margin for error has definitely decreased. Against the Broncos, he needs to really show something and obviously not have any turnovers.

Im rooting for the guy. I love underdog stories and him not being drafted I would really like if he worked his way to a spot. Things did not start off well, but theres still 3 preseason games before I completely write this dude off.

The danger in cutting a guy like this is he gets picked up and matures into a Chrebet / Welker type. I think we need to see him for a full season.

I disagree. If he continues to play like he did in his first preseason game, he will not and should not make the 53 man roster.
