Gameplan to stop our offense?

I'm concerned that the Bills showed the rest of the league how to stop our offense. I know alot of it was Tony having a bad game, but our running game was greatly exploited as well as our line. I really hope I'm wrong and that Garrett makes some adjustments.

Dallas just had an off night and Romo especially. Cowboys will learn from mistakes and move forward.

We dont have a deep threat at wr. We cant complete deep passes.

We have no game breaking running back on the roster right now.

add that up and that means teams are going to continue doubling owens and leaving the opposite wr alone so they can double witten.

Last night romo just kept forcing the ball down the field when he shouldnt have been.

I have seen alot said about romo this morning and one thing I havent seen anyone say is this. He got hit more last night in the first half than I have ever seen him get hit. I think that and the noise in the stadium was something this team was not expecting.

Romo looked tentative, confused and physically shaken from the amount of hits he took early. It would have been nice to have a rb that can keep moving the chains and threaten the defense, but we dont have that right now.

Sunday against the pats he is going to have to throw underneath every time and not take chances. Forcing the football down the field made no sense at the moments of the game he did that last night.

The fact that he somehow regained his composure and did check down and not force the ball on the last drive is a tribute to romo, the coaching staff and his teammates.

What keeping Romo from being an elite QB is his arm strength, although he has the mental aspect to be one. He can't make all the throws that a Peyton Manning or a Tom Brady can. When he is in the pocket he can't throw deep toward the sideline without mustering some extra strength which sometime causes overthrown balls. This is the reason why his throwing motion is sideways and why he rolls out alot when he has to throw to the sideline.

To contain the Cowboys offense you have to contain Witten and shut down the middle of the field. IMO Witten is the key to this offense.

Romo's arm is much stronger than Montana's. He's got plenty of armstrength, which is overrated anyway, IMO.

Be happy that Romo looked human last night because it won't happen often.

Aikman had days just like that... only he couldn't overcome them to actually win.

Romo arm is strong enough to make the throw. Damn guy has 1 bad night now all of a sudden he can't be elite? Hate to tell you even Manning and Brady have suffered bad games. Add to that despite have a bad game Romo was still able to pick himself up and help put this team back in a positon to win the game.

Also, we ran a very basic offense last night. TO was rarely used in the slot or put in motion. I actually thought he struggled in the press coverage getting separtion. Although he was WIDE open on the second Buffalo INT for a TD and that is where Romo was throwing before it was blocked.

Last night romo just kept forcing the ball down the field when he shouldnt have been.

Hopefully he learns from the game and accepts what the defense is giving. This is critical as we go forward.

Also, we ran a very basic offense last night. TO was rarely used in the slot or put in motion. I actually thought he struggled in the press coverage getting separtion. Although he was WIDE open on the second INT for a TD and that's were Romo was throwing before it was blocked.

I agree and I'm not sure how much the crowd noise played in Dallas not using a lot of motion when it is so hard to hear on the field. You were there so I'll take you word if that may have been a reason why Dallas used less motion

The noise was unbelieveable and it did not stop the entire game. I have NEVER seen anything like it.

I tried to tell everyone about that stadium and how they are in big games.

They are much louder than philly or washington.

I remember seeing Dan marino during warmups looking around as the crowd was harrassing him there an hour before kickoff, you could see in his face even he was intimidated. One of those games Jimmy Johnson said it was the most intimidating and loud stadium he had ever played in.

If the bills were winning the bills fans would get alot more credit but since they are still trying to dig out of the hole that spare tom donahoe dug for them, it is going to be awhile before they get their credit.

If I were playing our O I would take away the deep routes and make Romo dink and dunk down the field. He likes to throw deep (20 - 30 yard patterns) so I would bank on him losing patience and forcing balls.

He learned his lesson on that last big drive. I think he hit Barber/Witten/Crayton a couple of times for nice pick ups.

This game was the perfect example of what we would see from New England this coming weekend. Buffalo tried to show us a bunch of looks and Romo still threw it into tight coverage with disasterous consequences.

He had guys open short but didn't look for them until late in the game. I don't think he'll make the same mistake against the Patriots. Julius, Marion and Deon should see more balls next week, opening up the field for the WR and TE. A short pass is the same as a handoff, just without being stopped in the backfield.

The bills played a deep zone last night. They weren't going to allow the big play downfield. The objective was to keep everything in front of them. Romo tried to many times to get greedy and buffalo was in perfect position. they wanted to see if the cowboys could substain long drives without making errors.

I like what we did later in the game, hitting the fullback and barber in the flats. Romo needs to learn to just take what the defense gives them. I agree that stadium was off the chain. If they weren't playing dallas id feel sorry for them. Those buffalo coaches cost them the game.

I think this has to be talked about, perhaps in a different thread. I never saw us do any of the things we had done in the past 4 games. We looked very Vanilla on both sides of the ball.

On Defense we didn't stunt or have any exocitc blitzes on defense. Very very basic. Perhaps we are game planning for the Pats.

The Bills did what the Giants did in NJ last yr.....contain Romo in the pocket and play a 2 deep zone. He will see this until he overcomes it.

Seems like we would throw the underneath stuff and or run to bring the safties and LBs up closer. Garrett will earn his $$ the rest of the year dealing with this.

Teams will give him the short stuff and keep him in the pocket rather than let him improvise out of the pocket and make the big play.

I'm thinking the same thing. Wouldn't be surprised if Belicheat planned to take away the intermediate/long game and force Romo to pass underneath. Romo unfortunately wanted to pass like he did the first 4 weeks and wouldn't adjust until the end of the game when he finally started taking that the defense was giving him. Realize NE will play a more complex system but essentially try to do the same thing including sitting behind Witten to take him away as Romo's security blanket. The odds are still with NE but I'd sure like to see us still with them unlike other teams they've played.

Wish Dallas fans would react like Buffalo fans during the game and really turn up the volume the entire game. The Cowboys need them to turn Texas Stadium into a Dallas Cowboy fortress where even the mighty Patriots can be gotten off their game.
