I am using this draft prospect rating https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cam-mellors-big-board-top-300-players-2022-nfl-draft/; however, I do not expect DT Jordan Davis to be there at 24 when we pick. If he is, then I absolutely want us to take him. This is more what I expect the team will do based on who is available.

Because I would take Jordan Davis if he was there at 24, I'm including a separate mock in parenthesis on who I would take.

1 (24) G Zion Johnson, Boston College (DT Jordan Davis, Georgia)

2 (56) WR Erik Ezukanma, Texas Tech (OL Abraham Lucas, Washington)

3 (88) TE Cole Turner, Nevada

4 (129) LB JoJo Domann, Nebraska (WR Jerreth Sterns, Western Kentucky)

5 (155) DE Michael Clemons, Texas A&M

5 (167) DT Haskell Garrett, Ohio State (RB Pierre Strong Jr., South Dakota State)

5 (176) LB Ellis Brooks, Penn State (C Nick Ford, Utah)

5 (178) DT Matt Henningson, Wisconsin (LB Micah McFadden, Indiana)

6 (193) K Cade York, LSU (LB Kadofi Wright, Buffalo)

Most of these selections were based on draft need vs. value: Johnson was the 25th-ranked player, according to these rankings, and fit our top need. Ezukanma was a bit of a reach based on these rankings at 72nd, but WR seems to be a primary need with Gallup expected to miss time recovering from his injury. Cole Turner was 93rd, Domann 131, Clemons right at 155, Garrett right at 167, Brooks at 177 and Henningson at 181. I fudged it a little with York because this ranking did not include him, but I've seen him ranked as high as a fifth-rounder.

Appreciate the mock some of the selections Im unfamiliar with so I can look them up.
Zion is going up some boards

Think some of your slotting is off. Both of your day 2 selections are more day 3 prospects.

Crazy things happen in the draft, so who really knows…but those PFN rankings seem to be consistently off from pretty much every other rankings out there. Not sure Ezukanma is even top 100 pick consideration

Zion Johnson is in my top 3 favorites. I see him as an option at OC.

JoJo Domann is a good player. He can cover. He has a very small wingspan and is less than 6-1. Weighed 229. Unlikely to ever play on base downs unless it is as a SS.

Michael Clemons: I like this as a 5th round pick. Very long arms & large wingspan. Available in the 5th due to injury, character and over-age red flags.

Haskell Garrett: If you judged only by the Senior Bowl 1-on-1 drills, he would be a 3rd rounder. He flashed often in those drills.

I'm not a fan of Jordan Davis. He looks like a clone of Dontari Poe including the inconsistent lazy streak. Won't play on passing downs.

Erik Ezukanma is projected to the 5th round. He would be an interesting project in the 5th, maybe 4th round.

Abraham Lucus had some decent 1-on-1 reps at the Senior Bowl practices, but he is RT only. Not strong enough at OG and not athletic enough at LT.

Cole Turner is a poor man's Jarwin.

PFN own mock had him at #113.

This one had Ezukanma as 72nd. Since I don't evaluate draft prospects, other than looking at profiles and highlights, I have to go by what draft "experts" say. As always there are differences of opinion on some players. This draft ranking had a top 300, which allowed me to cover the entire draft, so I went with it.

Realistically, we have no idea where players will go. Most thought Cox was a second-round pick, and he went in the fourth. At least two of the players we took in the third (Golston and Wright) were considered by some to be fifth-rounders.

It seems to me that if Turner goes in the third, he's considered more of a rich man's Jarwin.

It really depends on what rankings you use. I chose this one because it offered me 300 prospects to work with. It's hard to say that the ranking will be either correct or incorrect, since every year players go higher and lower than expected. I'm not married to the rankings, though. More likely, they are off just like the rest of them.

I use a general consensus from several big boards, I have seen those day 2 picks all on day 3. Which big board are you using?

Honestly, I was, too. This was kind of a position-specific draft. I went with what I think Dallas is looking for positionwise and checked how that lined up with who was available. Just based on this ranking, the positions of need lined up fairly well with the values.

Out of all the picks, though, I don't know if I really expect Dallas to add two more DTs. One might be possible, but we've already got five on roster (Watkins, Gallimore, Odighizuwa, Hill and Bohanna). I just want us to keep throwing bodies at the position until we find one that can either blow up the run or get consistent penetration. That's why I'd take Davis if he falls to our first-round pick. I think he's a big, fast player who can tremendously help the run defense even if he doesn't add much as a pass rusher (which I think he can do if we keep his weight under control and work on his technique).

I truly expect us to take one of the guards in the first, though, because the value lines up with our needs, no matter the rankings that you use. Either Johnson or Green is likely to be there.

It's given in the OP. I don't subscribe to draft services, so I just looked this one up. General consensus might give you a better idea, but again, I'm not real big on worrying about where players are ranked by whom. Some might have a better idea than others when a player should go, but there's a laundry list of players who either went earlier or later than the draft experts thought.
