I would have done this trade. Not sure why we have not gotten involved in stuff like this. I said at the time we should have thrown our hat in the ring in the supplemental draft for Gaither. Now we can get in on Ginn for a low round pick and we do NOT do it. We threw a late pick in addition to every thing else for Roy....yet we covet these late pick some times like they are a lifeline. What gives?

The Cowboys would have had to give a 4th, which is not a low round draft pick.

are you saying Ginn is NOT worth a 4th? We spent a fourth on Isiah Stanback...and tried for YEARS to make him a WR. I think we spent a fourth on that WR from LSU who was short, fat and slow....let's not act like a 4th is a heavy price to pay. We need speed at WR....we need a return man. Ginn is at least a KNOWN commodity. Not saying he is a world beater. But he would have filled a need.

I agree. I find it hard to believe that Ginn didn't seem to be worth a 4th rounder to the Cowboys. He isn't a polished WR yet, but he's already miles ahead of the aforementioned 4th round gambles and he's a proven PR/KR. I can understand building through the draft and putting a premium on draft picks, but those picks are about getting guys like Ginn! I don't care if it's a trade or a draft pick itself the point is to get a player! AFIC the Boys dropped the ball on this one (especially considering that a return specialist is on our "to do" list).

Because the great thing about the Cowboys organization, is that we seem to hit quite often in rounds 4-7. Look at Scandrick. Not even 12 months ago he was being touted as the best corner on our team.

Maybe you answered your own question maybe the boys are gun shy about waisting a pick on a WR ther are not to sure about. Just a guess

Niners got robbed, Ginn is worthless...
to them, but on a team with a qb and true number 1 he could be (over used cliche player coming) an alvin harper type guy. in actuality ginn should be what the player desean jackson is but jackson can catch the ball better and get behind the defense better.

He's Desean Jackson who can't catch as well and can't get open as well? That's about right. A small receiver working his way out of the NFL.

but if he were on a good team and not number 1 he would produce at an expected level.

i dont think he is on his way out yet he has some time to get better. he is faster than desean i dont know why he doesnt get behind defenses as well as jackson maybe it has a little to do with play design. he does need to work on making the most of his opportunities though.

Please, Harper was EONS more gifted a WR than Ted Ginn is, or ever will be.

Ginn is just another guy who is real fast, but has basically no other talent for the position. He's a massive bust and thats why the Dolphins are beside themselves with glee for getting a 5th rd pick for a guy who wouldnt have been on their roster after the draft anyway.

i wont argue with most of what you said but the bottom line is he can have a place somewhere as a decent #2, every TD he has ever had has been 40+ yards yeah he is a bust as a round one pick but if he can increase his production to about 5 TDs a year and 5-600 yards i dont think san fran will be upset about giving a 5th. ginn was supposed to be a #1 in miami, in san fran he will be the speed guy opposite crabtree. but they still need a qb to get it to them, maybe alex smith is it idk but ginn can have an impact in the right roll

That's a poor #3 WR you're describing at best..
for a 5th and big play ability. alvin harper was the clear #2 and his career average yardage was 496 and average TD per yer was 3, yes he had better years but consistant 5-600 yards and 5 TDs along with the fact that he has two rushing TDs at 40 yards a pop and his punnt and kick return ability he would be considered a good player if crabtree preforms well
