Whoa.

A teenage girl gave birth to a child as she was walking down a street in Istanbul's Bağcılar district and then left the newborn baby on the pavement. The 16-year-old reportedly informed her parents about her pregnancy that night and they were walking to the hospital when she delivered the baby on the pavement.

She and her cohorts need to have child abuse and attempted murder charges brought down on them.

I think the poor child DID die. Looked like they covered it up at the end there. Good grief.

The baby was later discovered by a child passing by, and locals immediately alerted authorities. Police
officers arrived soon after and took the abandoned baby to a hospital.

...snip....

The baby is reportedly in good health and will be passed on to the Social Services and Child
Protection Agency when released from hospital.

Not sure about the baby's current state of health since its June 7, 2012 birth and abandonment.

If you read, those cohorts were her parents. She was 16 years old she had just told them about it and they were walking her to the hospital.

Definitely a very odd circumstance and actions following the event.

Nope ...... after she went home her parents took their bleeding daughter to the hospital.

The people with her was probably her boyfriend and his older brother.

People disgust me. It says the father of the baby was taken into custody? Why? What did he do wrong?

If the umbilical cord had been untied, the bleeding from it could have killed the baby, according to experts.

‘I thought it was a blood clot’

The mother also said she had not noticed the baby as it fell on the pavement, adding that she thought it was a blood clot.

"Something fell from me," she reportedly said during questioning. "I thought it was a blood clot. I didn't know it was the baby."

After the baby fell, she returned home, changed into clean clothes and went to a hospital where the remaining parts were removed from her body, according to the testimony.

She requested that the child be given to a state agency, Hürriyet reported.

Rape claims

Initial reports identified the father as her 17-year-old boyfriend from the same neighborhood, but allegations of rape have since added to the controversy.

The older brother of the boyfriend, as well as a friend of the older brother, allegedly raped the teenager after learning that she had had sex with her boyfriend, threatening to tell her parents about it unless she complied.

The older brother was soon arrested on charges related to drug possession, while the friend has left Istanbul to conduct military service.

I think the parents knew it and were looking to dump the kid by hiding it. Parents took her to hospital because they didn't know they were on camera when she dropped the baby I bet. LIES in my opinion.

Doesn't make sense. The umbilical cord just broke off?

It makes no sense. First birth for a teenage girl isn't going slide out like a fart either. She must have delivered elsewhere and just hid the poor kid up her skirt or something.

I saw that and corrected myself.

Sam was right and I was wrong.

Her parents and her should be prosecuted for child abuse and attempted murder of a child.

This would make it even more twisted. It would be like people who throw bags with dogs in them out of car windows to get rid of them.

I thought I read that the parents were already questioned and released trying to play the card that they didn't know about the pregnancy.

They probably didn't know about the preg. but they probably knew the kid existence before they walked.

Once again, I think the parents didn't know they were on camera and that is why they probably acting as if when she home, that is when they took her to the hospital. How do we know they went home? They could of had clothes in the car.

If you read the entire article that wittenacious posted, it says the umbilical cord was tied off. She clearly had the baby earlier and must have had it hidden in her clothing and it fell out. If the baby was delivered on the pavement she would not have survived.

The thing I find hard to believe is that not a single person picked up the baby during the entire CCTV footage. Even after the first ambulance/police arrived, no one picked up the baby.
