I have a couple of friends that know Ken...apparently he's like the nicest guy in the world. Hell of a driver too....he impressed the hell out of the crew on the BBC's Top Gear show. Personally, I think he scared the hell out of Jeremy Clarkson. He's more than just a "drifter" though. He's a competitive rally driver as well IIRC. I briefly met him once when he jumped his Subaru over a 75 foot table top in a snowboard park that my friend built. It was pretty freakin' cool to watch.

A few years back there was a big trend of ex-snowboard, motocross, skate-type personalities that couldn't hang with the young kids anymore and made a crossover into the world of rally...where good ankles and knees aren't of major importance. IMO, they've totally re-energized motor sports and brought a lot to the table.

I hate ricers and imports for the most part...I'm more into displacement than turbos...but I don't think what these guys do is the same thing. This stuff is for REAL race car drivers IMO.

Reminds me of the way I used to drive in high school.

Lmao...I was the same way. Completely fearless....and stupid. I used to get my moms POS stock Honda Accord well over 100 on backroads....same roads that still take the lives of kids in northern VA today (Although all of todays spoiled brats have suped up jap cars that go faster and handle a hell of a lot better). Looking back, I realize how lucky I was to get out of my teenage years alive.

I do have some fond memories though...like the time six of my friends and I (3 cars) raced around Quantico Marine Corps base....starting at the PX and finishing at the PX. I was in my mom's accord, my friend's had a volvo station wagon and a volkswagen golf, respectively. I was winning coming down the home stretch, and as I was braking for my final turn into the PX parking lot I lost the Volvo out of my rear view mirror....only to see him launch his mom's station wagon over a huge curb at probably 75 mph. It was ridiculous....he must have been airborne for 50 yards. I couldn't help but laugh, and think to myself I should have expected it from him as he was the same guy that would bring that Volvo out with us off-roading. That damn car took more abuse than one could imagine....and drove off without a limp every time. Albeit with a lot of undercarriage damage.

So yeah...I lost to a station wagon. Good times.
