hurry up and get better.....
i miss the rivalry that we had with the Niners for over 2 decades. Yes that's right.....the Niners were playing us in the playoffs throughout the 70's.....contrary to what most of us believe, the rivalry didn't start with the catch.....it just hit mainstream, national level. I miss hating the Niners. I miss hating them so much. I want that rivalry back in the worst way.
I also miss the brief rivalry we had with the Packers....we owned them, but it was still fun to rehash what we started in the 60s, they got the best of us then, but we got them back in the 90s. That rivalry definitely lost steam when Sterling Sharpe and Erik Williams were injured. Without Sharpe, the Packers were not the same offensively....and without Williams at the top of his game, his battles with White just weren't the same.
I am glad we sort of have a new rivalry with the Saints, but that has kind of lost some steam with Parcells leaving.
Sure we have the NFC East Rivalries...but those are always rivalries. We lost the Cards when they switched divisions, but we still sort of kept them when they signed Emmitt....now I can say that rivalry is officially dead.
Not only do I need the Niners and Packers rivalries....the NFL does to....it would definitely bring greater ratings if the Niners, Packers, and Cowboys were all competing for SBs again.
