It was a lot of fun. Obviously no photos, as they don't even allow cell phones in there.
They started everyone off late, so when we got there, the first pairs were just starting off. We went over to this nice area by the 6th green and 7th tee where we could watch a lot of the action on both holes.
After lunch we settled in at the 17th hole at a great spot where we could watch the guys hit their approach shots on this long par 4. It was a tough hole and a monster green, so we saw a huge variety of approaches and putts. The hole was in such a ridiculously tough placement, guys were routinely missing 6-8 footers. I think we only saw 2 birdies there of the 20 guys we watched come through there.
By then, McIlroy had teed off, so we ambled back over to our spot on the 6th/7th and by the time we got there, it was Kuchar and Kim there, who were about 3 or 4 groups ahead of the final pairing. Got to watch Garcia three-putt the 6th, and then McElroy and Yang came through. Great ovation for McIlroy for everything he did. He missed makable birdie putts on both 6 and 7, but it was still cool to watch him for a bit. By then, the kids and I were all getting pretty tired, and the crowds were too big to fight since pretty much everyone left was following that final group. So we headed back to the shuttle after hitting the souvenir shop.
Long day, but a really fun time!
