Anyone reading any good books? A friend recommended the untethered soul and it’s pretty enlightening so far.

Im really into the insight and personal growth stuff. Not like self help, but just a better understanding of physiology of human nature and controlling of emotions. That’s a lot to unpack there.
Aleister Crowley or Deepak Chopra? :D

Really? Maybe I’ll give it a shot. I really enjoyed the untethered soul. It was way too relatable.
I read it a ways back and really enjoyed it. I didn't grow up in gang life or anything but was interesting the difference bw LA and DC where I'm from.

I remember half rooting for revenge and things like that (which surprised me) when reading as if it was me out prowling for other gangs or it was me who lost a fellow member and being legitimately angry, etc.
I understood street life growing up during the murder capital era in DC in 80s/90s but not in that way or level. "Understanding the development of evil" is kind of my take from it.

It stuck with me longer than most books. If you don't like it, no biggie, etc. It is a book out of left field (what I took from you asking the board). Throw something at me fellas! :)

I’m an avid reader but those topics are definitely not in my wheelhouse. If you want recommendations on some of the “classics” (War and Peace, Uncle Toms Cabin, Moby Dick, Frankenstein, etc) I can steer you in the right direction.

I also read a lot of American history, mainly American West, Civil War, WWII and Revolutionary War. Almost done reading every John Grisham book. Dabble in and out of Stephen King and am starting to get into Elmore Leonard. I’m sure there’s also several books and/or topics I’m forgetting but there’s a few.

If interested in any of that, feel free to hit me up.

Not much into non-fiction unless it's history or sports.

In fiction, I'm all over the place. Thrillers, sci-fi, mystery fantasy.

Reading Ed McBain's first 87th Precinct novel, Cop Killer.

Into historical fiction these days. I haven't been reading much since the pandemic, but looking to get back on the horse soon. A few of my favorites..

"The Historian" about the real life Dracula- Vlad the Impaler.

Also "The Nightingale" about **** occupied France.

Then a a few rock biographies "Nikki Sixx The Heroin Diaries" and "Motley Crue's Dirt" These books are done well. I read a lot of biographies and most drag on and on. Tough to get through. But not these 2. Both awesome.

Then some westerns.

The Sackett series - Louis L'Amour

The Texas Ranger series - Elmer Kelton
