its a breath of fresh air not to be one of the most penalized teams in the league.
Bravo McCarthy!!
Good point. I didn’t even think about that. I remember so many momentum killing penalties in the past. We haven’t had that this year.

I would still like to have an offense that keeps their foot on their opponents throats at all times. The 2007 NE Patriots were notorious for running up the score, and I'm not ashamed to say I would love to see that here. But Dak isn't 2007 Brady and MM isn't 2007 Bellycheat, so we have to accept what we are given.

But the team is 2-0, and that is absolutely acceptable, even if they should have won this game 50-10 but didn't because of all the FG's.

One thing I really got to give McCarthy and Quinn props for is that this team looks much more prepared to start games and are much less penalized. We used to come in and look like a complete circus, especially on games like this after a big victory.

part of that was being forced to try and establish the horrid Zeke every game.

Never understood that comment.

I thought McCarthy managed the game beautifully. That Jets defense is no joke, one of the best, most fundamentally sound defenses we will see all season.

When you trust your own defense to stop your opponent, the last thing you want to do is to take unnecessary risks where something bad can happen. Minimize anything that allows the Jets to get back in the game.

Last year I was overly critical of MM and how the team seemed to be so undisciplined with the penalties. I have zero problems admitting when I am wrong and giving a shout to MM for a job well done, so far! I hope this remains the norm and the team can operate consistently with few penalties and bad subpar coaching decisions.

Also notice how there isn't constant CONSPIRACY! whining either. Funny what having an actual legit disciplined power team does. You're confident in the team and let go of the excuses. There are some still so traumatized that they try to find victimhood wherever they can as the safeguard they're familiar with but they are grasping at straws to those of us that can see reality and now even more people are calling them out. I still have my rulebook handy though, lol.

Maybe a lot of the offensive penalties stemmed from Moore's system. Too cutesy and complicated for them

From my perspective, best part of MM coaching was never letting the momentum change.

When he needed to. He threw deeper. But most of the time, just kept the pressure on, and kept scoring.

Never did he let the team break because he had to get one more first down, or could put it away with a TD, nor anything that would allow the Jets to have hope and gain momentum. He let the D work, and never got cute on O.

Excellent job of coaching this game. At least in my opinion.
