Multiple times, everyday someone is complaining about Goodell and the refs having it out for the Cowboys. How they will help Brady out to beat the Cowboys or Rogers or anyone. I’ve asked the question multiple times of some of these posters of , “Who, how and why”. I’ve yet to get a response. So let me lay it out for you.

If Goodell has it out for the Cowboys and is using the refs to influence the game the process would play out something like this. Let’s just take one game. Say the first playoff game. Goodell would have to call in or meet virtually with the officiating crew for that game. Then tell them that he wants them to make sure the Cowboys don’t win or at the least if the call is questionable go in favor of the other team. These refs do this as mostly a hobby as they all have full time jobs. Some are Doctors, lawyers, pilots etc. They don’t need the money so you think any of them would do what Goodell asks? They have reputations to protect. Even if one of them accepted, do you think the other 4 would not tell someone? Of course they would because if they didn’t then they would be just as guilty.

And some of you say this happens every week so every officiating crew should have to be in on it. I mean it’s so ludicrous it’s just unbelievable so many here think this is happening.

The officiating crews for any game make mistakes. That’s what you’re seeing and not some intentional attempt to screw the Cowboys. And these mistakes more often than not, even out.

So this “Goodell and the refs” have it out for the Cowboys is pure conspiracy quackery.

He's right. It's just an implausible theory. There may be the occasional biased ref, who makes questionable calls, but even that seems doubtful to occur with any frequency. Every team's fans feel the refs are out to get them, and they can't all be right.
He's not right. We have a fellow poster who retired as a ref for NCAA Div 1 games for many years who knows differently through experience.

I just think opposing coaches "work" the refs pregame to look for things the Cowboys do, techniques, plays, etc. Maybe McCarthy might try to do it also, but maybe his "complaints" are ignored.

Zeke says that Goodell loves him and the Cowboys and that he deserved a much longer suspension, but got love and mercy instead.

I am sure other teams feel the same way about the refs. However, I think we get consistently screwed. That ridiculous rule when Butler went into the huddle then to the sidelines penalty. Nobody had heard of that rule before and it had not been called for years. That's how obscure it was. Missed penalties are the ones that get me the most. Yes, it may get even out but how often does that really happen?

I used to do the taxes for a now-retired NFL official who would find your conspiracy stuff laughable. Let me guess, HE WAS IN ON IT! :muttley:

Serious question, why would you waste your time on a sport you truly believed was rigged against your favorite team? It makes no sense.

That's the fly in your ointment. You don't really believe what you're saying. It's a coping mechanism. Otherwise, you wouldn't even be here.

Obscure rules suck when they bite you in the rear end, but the fact that it hasn't been called in eons could just mean it hasn't happened in eons, or that the officials in that game are better versed in the rules than officials who may not have called it.

And because his claim supports your theory, you believe him completely. It's called confirmation bias, and it's not a reliable way to arrive at the truth.
It's one of many truths. There's years of biased officiating as proof. But you go ahead and stay in denial all you want. I've got years of video evidence, plus an ex-official's word based on years of officiating experience. You've got nothing but words.

All good arguments. I just wish Dallas was a better disciplined team. Always leading the League in penalties is embarrassing.
