Just thought I'd post a nice pat myself on the back thread.

I'm graduating from college tomorrow with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Resource Development.

Now I gotta find a job.

Anyone in the Dallas area looking for a training coordinator or HR recruiter?

If your school has a Career Services liaison, take advantage of that. Our's puts us in touch with alumni in our field of study to begin with, and then we have our own career placement services as well. I'm not starting to look until the 3rd when I have my appointment with our resume writer.

Thanks. I've dealt with our career services in the past but haven't explored it fully yet. Probably need to get on that.

Congrats on your degree!

Likewise. I was this )( close to not walking tonight. I didn't want to and then find out on Monday that I failed my Polymers Science class. That final was nasty in all kinds of evil ways. Professor emailed my grade at 3:09 today and we had to be on campus and checked in around 5, and I live an hour away.

From what I've gathered, I'm the only undergrad to make the cut out of the 8 in that class, and we were all scheduled to walk tonight. 5 didn't show up tonight, 2 more did that failed and are taking something else in the spring.

Human Resource Development? Tough to find a job in that field right now. Good luck. Let us know how the interviewing process is going.

The Army is always "hiring." Now that you have a degree, you can be an officer.

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations.

I didn't think I would get as much out of Commencement as I did. Truly a great experience, even at my age. At the end, when we all stood, and the Provost had everyone in the Coliseum standing and applauding, I took a few steps out into the aisle, and just turned around, taking it all in. I wish I would have taken an minute to record it with my phone. I've got a few emails out trying to find anyone who might have recorded it.

Even when we were getting in order for the walk out to the coliseum, it didn't seem like that big of a deal. Ho hum, you graduated, you'll get your diploma bifold, and that's that. Go get a job and start paying off those student loans.

I don't know when or where in the ceremony all of that changed, and the cynicism for the event melted away. Sometime before our aisle stood up to walk, somewhere in there, pride overcame everything. It was a great feeling. Incredible.

Felt like a rock star walking back down the concourse out of the stadium. People lined up, clapping and cheering for us.

Now I want to do it again, but I sure don't want any part of grad school in the biology department! :D

Congratulations everyone.

Went to my Girlfriends Graduation today. She was very excited and graduated with lots of different honors and Suma Cum Laude or whatever you call it. Man was it a long ceremony. Took like an hour just to honor the Doctorates, another for the Masters, and then they speed rolled through the huge amount of BAs

An hour for the Doctorates??? Where did she get her degree from?

We had two, count 'em two, in our ceremony but then again there were four total ceremonies.

All right, looked in the booklet thingamabopper. 7 PhD's were awarded.

By my estimate, Texas State rolled through a hair under 2000 Bachelor's degrees in the last two days. Didn't count the Masters.

During the ceremony, the President mentioned that we have over 17,000 applications for admission from graduating high school seniors. That explains why there are two huge construction projects on campus right now.

There was 2 entire rows of Doctorates. She graduated from UCF. Each doctorate came to the stage with a presenter and had two people "hood" them, so the ordeal took a while.
