Some of you may remember that I retired from my head football coaching job four years ago. I was 50 and my daughter was about to turn 17. I became a head football coach and AD when she was 3 years old and worked 80 to 90 hours a week from August thru November and about 60 hours a week the rest of the year. I would even go into the weight room and 7 on 7 games on most days, during my three week summer vacation. I retired, because I wanted to be there for her during her senior year of HS. I am proud to say that this Friday, four months before she turns 21, she will be graduating with honors from college with a degree in Economics and Psychology.
This is bigger to me than any district title or play off game I ever won. She and my wife, never missed one of my games. Sorry, hope no one takes this as bragging, just a proud dad. Salud!!

Congratulations!...you know this crossed my mind because I seen u mentioned before u use to work 80-90 hours , and I know some older people use to work a lot of hours when they were younger too, but to you and any other posters who read this. Do you regret working like that? Do u wished u had more family time?

Luckily I was an administrator and had a very supportive Superintendent, I never missed a game, tournament or open house. I do regret that when she was little, she was asleep when I left for work and asleep when I got home, during football season. I gave my staff Sundays off and we had short practices on Wednesdays for family night. That said, I'm pretty lucky to have a supportive wife and a smart kid that understands what hard work means.
But, yeah.....it wasn't easy.

Congrats to you and your daughter. It is not bragging. You are just a proud parent just like anyone of us. My twin daughters are finishing up their freshman year in college. Proud of both of them especially since they have to take the classes remote due to the situation we are in as society. Does you daughter know what she wants to do with her degrees?

P. S. Did she put on her cap Garrett still sucks lol.

One of my former players and coaches is a principal and offered her a teaching job. She wants to try it because my wife and I were both educators. I bought her an investment property, and I've had her design my Last three flips. I've also talked to a regional rep about getting her a State Farm agency. Lots of options....I probably need to step Back and let her decide on her own, she want to get a masters in hospital administration. She's my only one and I can't help myself!!! Lol!!

There is nothing wrong with making suggestions. I am at fault at doing that. I told my one daughter that I can see her being a elementary school teacher or administrator but she does not want to that. Wanted to be a nurse but now has changed her mind to being a speech therapist for a school. I told her that whatever you do do because he enjoy it not because of the pay.
