Steve Young couldn't beat Brett Favre
Brett Favre couldn't beat the Cowboys
Roger Staubach couldn't beat the Steelers
Patrick Mahomes can't beat Tom Brady
Peyton Manning couldn't beat Tom Brady first 8 years, and then Tom Brady couldn't beat Peyton Manning after that

Dak Prescott can't beat the 49ers.

Anymore?

blaming the QBs a little too much I think.
IF they always played bad in those situations you might have a point but is that the case or is it simply that on those occasions the better team won?

The '72 Cowboys beat the Steelers with backup quarterback, Craig Morton. They won with defense and a thoroughly mediocre performance by Morton. There an be no doubt, that they would have won with Staubach had he been healthy for the game.
...
The 70s Cowboys rarely even played the Steelers. That means "not enough of a sample size" to draw conclusions such as "Staubach can't defeat the Steelers."

Romo can't beat Eli Manning and the Giants, at least in Playoffs.
Cowboys can't beat Aaron Rodgers. Period.
Cowboys can't beat the Cardinals since 90's Dynasty. (Not sure what record is, but seems like we've lost a lot of games to them)
Cowboys can't beat Bart Starr.
Schottenheimer and Browns can't beat Elway.
Bengals can't beat Joe Montana.

I would say Romo did excellently overall vs Eli in the REGULAR SEASON
And Eli had one of the greatest collections of D linemen ever on one team on his side
The Giants D line depth that year was incredible

I think they only met that once in the playoffs but am not certain
