I dropped my Direct TV and am trying to survive without it, the only channels I think I'm going to miss are ESPN and NFL Network when they broadcast NFL games (I've been able to find just about any show I want by going to the website and watching th shows on the stations website).

I started searching the internet and found this site:

http://www.channelsurfing.net/

Courtesy of the site above, I'm currently watching the NFL Network as I type this.

I thought there might be some other zoners in the same boat or with a cable company that doesn't carry the NFL Network and figured I'd pass along the link.

If this is inappropriate please delete and if this isnt the best location for this post, please move and if I am guilty on either count above, I apoligize in advance to the mods.

*** For anyone who is considering doing the same thing, I hooked up an antenna that receives all my local channels in HD. I have an extra PC hooked up to my flat screen so I can surf the internet and or watch shows. I use a cordless mouse and keyboard so I can sit on my couch while I watch and surf. I'm considering getting a TIVO unit so I can still have a DVR for my local stations, but I'm hearing mixed reviews on that front. If anyone would like to discuss this further, PM me and I'll set up a new post in a different forum where we can discuss ways to cut the cable/satalite cord. This is going to save me over $1,200 per year plus I figureI'll watch less TV and be more productive elsewhere (so far that's true because I've already read two books)***

Channelsurfing never works when you need it, like on gameday due to all the traffic.

If you have a PC hooked up, you should look at OTA tuners. If you're using Vista or Win 7, they should have media center built in. You can check out thegreenbutton.com for lots of tips on how to integrate sites like channelsurfing.net into 3rd party addons. One way or the other, with a PC hooked up, you should be able to be just fine without cable.

This.

Or if it does, the quality is so painful you cannot watch it.
