These guys are not relevant anymore, their new stuff is bland, they are old, just stop please. And the "punk" moment was lame, seriously not even close to a real punk moment, and yes I have seen firsthand real punk instances IRL at shows that I can compare to.

Old Green Day=stage dives, New Green Day=stage quits.

BTW if no one knows what this is , here you go.

Wow. I watched the video, and he straight comes off as a DIVA. I used to listen to punk as a kid (ten foot pole, rancid, green day). That was just embarrassing.

“Billy Joe isn’t a hero for that childish display. He’s a spoiled, rich, rock star w/ a bruised ego who’s lost sight of how lucky he is. For a guy who’s made millions off of a guitar repetoire that doesn’t extend beyond power chords, you’d think he’d be a little more gracious.”

:laugh2:

Laying down some real truth there.

I wonder if you guys know that Green Day has checked him into a substance abuse facility? And have pretty much acknowledged that the dude was high on something when he took the stage?

I am going to let you in on a secret- a lot of bands making their level of money are high on drugs before, after, during shows, etc.

Yeah, it's stated at the link. I don't care. If you or I act like an *** in public there are repercussions, not only for the act but for the illegality of being high in the first place. We don't get the victim treatment.

I don't think anyone that knows anything about punk would ever mistake Green Day for a punk band....or really any band that surfaced on MTV or non-college radio during that time period to the present, for that matter.

Followed the links, watched the video. Struck me as showmanship, drug issues or not. Armstrong trying to keep Green Day relevant to their fans is how I took it... even if in an aging rocker, angsty, embarrassing outburst sort of way.

Still pushing the anti-authority band front, though I agree w/ others who've said... Green Day is NOT a real punk band.

I did like the shot Billy Joe took at Justin Bieber though... eh, just because. :D

Playing at the iheartreadio festival and crying about pop bands? okay....

yeah, they are old and not relevant but if they aren't relevant, better not tell many posters here who think Merle Haggard and that genre are still relevant

Never been a fan of their fake anger/angst and subpar musicianship but kudos to him for standing to the pop nonsense that dominates the airwaves today.

They have a few good songs, but they've always been preachy *******...

Shut. Up. And. Sing...

I saw somewhere that they were slotted for 45 minutes but the producers came to them and told them they would have 25 minutes because they wanted more time for Usher.

I laughed the other day when someone said they where punk.

Punk music was The Sex Pistols, Suicidal Tendencies, The Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Black Flag etc etc

Green Day has a bunch of cool songs, but I can't stand their singer. The guy is the biggest umm. Backside.

Something about a guy 40 years old that dresses like he's 15 makes me laugh.

And the makeup?
