There are some changes along the DL.
Returning is Micah, Mazi, Odiggy. Then Fowler returning from the 1 year stint with an NFCE rival.
Coming off injury is Williams, and Kneeland with limited playing time due to injury. Both of whom, were drafted to replace other players. Such as DLaw.

So they discuss the new players added this year, but not much depth in the discussion. I am sure this will be more I depth on here.

Thomas and Turner being the biggest additions getting a new place to see if they can do well here. Rogers, though drafted last year, returned to the PS and team later in. the season, so basically is like a new player.
Wheat returns but seems to be a perennial back up.

So who will be the starters, other than Micah.

Micah, Odiggy, Mazi and Kneeland. With Williams spelling Kneeland on passing downs.
Not exactly a formidable front four.
Liufau and the replacements at the second level ie LBs, and the same with Bland and the backups at the 3rd level. Have pending Overshown and Diggs as injured starters but unknown return dates.
Pinning a whole lotta trust in past failed picks to all of a sudden be impact players for Dallas.

Bout sums it up.

For the first time in what seems like forever it looks like starting jobs will come by way of true competition instead of preselection by the coaching staff.

What about the LB's we signed

Sanborn and Murray, good signings.
Can step in and play right away.

I guess I viewed the article more along the DL. As it did not mention LB's.
You're talking about getting him a consistent Robin to his Batman, just like we want for lamb, so we need a young future pass rusher soon, but I don't think it's a priority as people think.. I mean Fowler has better numbers last year than are departed tank and Golston together had... The key here is when is overshown getting back and can he ever stay healthy year in a year out or is this going to be another Sean Lee who has all the talent in the world but is not available...

Fixing the interior of the defensive line is a great concept that's not helping Parsons as much as it would be helping those linebackers it would be helping the safeties and yes it would provide some help to the outside guys but I think this is being overblown....

.... I personally feel, will be good this year. Maybe the surprise team.

Whether we can take care of Biz in playoffs. ...Will see.

I know this speaks to the defensive line so I'll leave the LB Corp out of this for now.

After Micah I'm seeing either inexperience to slightly above average on the DLine.

I'd like to think that improvement from last year is possible but I need to see evidence and something more tangible.

I can't blame Jerry on not addressing this in a meaningful way in FA because there wasn't many blue chip DTs available.....Milton Williams would have been a nice pickup but clearly out of Jerry's price range.

Having to ACE the upcoming draft is really putting too many eggs in one basket.....the jury is still out

Look to our 2nd year players for the most improvement on defense.

We saw some good things from Kneeland and Liufau. We saw flashes from Carson, although he was over his head as a starter. Still, most agree that NFL players show the most improvement from the previous season in their 2nd year.

We should throw Sam Williams into that group as well. If his injury turns out to be an isolated incident then he should improve on his rookie performance in 2023 which showed some promise.

When a player suffers a major injury, I have observed that it often takes more than one season to completely heal and regain the previous level of performance. I really believe that we did not see the real Daron Bland in 2024. The 2025 version will be much improved.

Unfortunately, it would be risky to expect significant contributions from Diggs and Overshown for the reason previously explained. They may suit up and take some snaps but a major contribution is improbable.

As far as the veteran free agents recently signed, I typically expect nothing. I consider any meaningful productivity from them as an extra bonus. They are unpredictable in their prove-it or last-chance phases of their careers.

And then there is the next group of defensive rookies, whoever they are and whatever level of productivity they are expected to contribute.

As new players arrive, Parsons tenure solidifies his status as a true team leader by definition. After all, in order to lead, you have to be in front of everybody else. That was the issue with D-Law as a team leader.

True leaders aren't known for their charisma, impassioned speeches or ability to inspire. They model the required behaviors and are the embodiment of what it takes to be a winner.
