Personally, I find just "plain" shreading horrible to listen too. There needs to be some musical flow to it. You hit youtube and search shreading, and all you see is guys trying to play as fast as they can. They suck.

I'm a HUGE Slayer fan, (specifically late 80s early 90s) but most of their leads were crap. It was the rest of the song that was great. It's something I always respected about Kirk Hammett of Metallica. His leads *almost* always had rhythm to them.

I'd take Eddie over Satch and Kirk any day. I'd also take Jimmy Paige, Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Zakk Wylde, Dave Mustaine, Dimebag and Slash, and a few hundred more over both of those guys.

I'm huge fans of all those guys, but while Joe doesn't exactly play my favorite type of music, there is no question he is the most talented and by far the most skilled guitarist of the bunch.

I like Zakk Wylde, but he has no business in your list. He is probably the least skilled of anyone on that list. I would say Eddie / Clapton are the most skilled. (from YOUR list that is. )

I love the instrument and I love the players. I used to love to argue over who's the best, but then I realized that it's a stupid argument. It's all about personal preference and you can like whoever you like. As I said, I'll take all those guys I mentioned over Satch and Kirk. No disrespect to either of them, I just don't like they're playing that much. I have a problem with your lack of respect for Zakk though. Here's two gems by him that should hopefully open your eyes. He's very good, very fast and very soulful. Not sure how you can't hear that.
