I only saw once missed blocked by Andre. He played a whale of a game abd was making excellent blocking decisions. That hole for JJ's long run was in the "2" hole off his left shoulder. He made a seal block then washed off to the second layer to chip a LB.

I could have gotten five yards thru that whole :laugh2:

I agree. Gurode played great today along with the whole offensive line, especially run blocking. Don't mess with what is working and just leave it the way it is. Gotta give props to al johnson as well. Great game by the o-line

I think what he's saying is that if Rivera *IS* a go, Gurode should get the start.

I always thought Gurode was a good player and I thought the same of Solomon Page and Matt Lehr too. Some of the decisions made by BP concerning the OL have been questionable at best IMO.

I bet he gets rid of Gurode next year too...in favor of Tarullo or Noll or whoever.

Just wait...

Where were all the false starts?

Great game by Gurode....deserves to start next week.

Gurode could turn into the swingman on the OL that Purcells has been looking for. Backup Center, starter at Guard, and can we give Rivera back to Green Bay or something? Give 'em a free treadmill clause and throw in Ogbogu to sweeten the deal.

I rarely get into prospect arguments... but Johnson has been a dissappointment this season... I like Gurode in the role at this point...

Yep...........agreed.

I agree.

Leave Gurode in there.

I think he's a force and his time on the bench has given him extra incentive to play better. Maybe he'll earn his draft pick afterall?

You are correct......he was a great play today

How much cap space would it waste to jettison Rivera? Let's face it, he has NOT played well enough to justify the $$$ that the Boys are paying him. Just having Gurode in there made the line/running lanes 100% better! Is his back that messed up or is he just not that good of a player?

Tons... our only hope would be for the guy to voluntarily retire and give back some of the bonus.

The O-Line is a collective effort and if one link is bad they look bad as a unit. Johson's improved play could have been in part due to Gurode being a stronger presence compared to Rivera. Andre is definintely a load to deal with.

Its finally nice to hear some positive things about our O-line. They played good yesterday and it lead to a very enjoyable rushing attack for Julius. Some of you guys still think JJ sucks or what? I love our young phenoms at running back, TT speed, JJ Moves, MBIII Toughness and when our O-line plays just average they can destroy defenses!

One game does not make a starter. There's a reason Rivera was brought in, even tho his play has been a disappoint. It's the same reason Tucker was pulled off RT. And it's the same reason Tucker has gotten more and more exposed over the past few weeks.

Gurode is a solid back-up who can fill in in a pinch. If left there for an extended period, I think we'll see the same results as last year... He may prove me wrong, but while I applaud his effort in this game, I'm not ready to annoint him as "The Guy"

You may be right, WG, but I'd rather have a spotty O-lineman at a reasonable price than a spotty O-lineman that we are paying thru the nose for.

Rivera still has about 7.2 million signing bonus allocation for remainder of his contract. He might become the most expensive back-up in football or one big cap hit in 2006. Ideal situation is for him to get healthy this off-season and solidify the RG position in '06.
