Terrible news.

Philly, Tennessee and Washington are run first, run well offenses that can shorten a game quickly. Plus, all three have stout defenses.

I hope Hankins is back for the playoffs, but people need to calm down on this. Between the Minnesota, NYG, Indy, and Houston game the guy played a combined 67 snaps, an average of about 16 snaps per game. In non of those did this team get gashed by the run with or without Hankins. Also to note is Quinton Bohanna had probably the best game of his career this past Sunday after Hankins went down.

The run defense has been significantly better the last four weeks, and while Hankins helps the Cowboys issues ran deeper than just needing a big body out there. By large part they have fixed the majority of the issues in relation to the run game.

Yes they have I agree with Quinn the issue was not the personnel it was the fact guys were blowing assignment and not maintaining gap control. You had guy trying to get to the QB and not doing their jobs. Quinn reminded guys you have to earn the right to pass rush meaning we must do the dirty work and set up the pass rush situations. Run defense has been much improved since GB game and Dallas has faced some very good RB since the GB game. Dallas will face more good running teams namely Philly and Tenn but anyone watching should be able to see the improvement this defense has made since the GB game. No one is running consistently; they may get a decent run but that does not constitute a run game where they are griding out run after run vs our defense

The good news is that at least I won't waste a lot of time watching because the game will be over quickly!!! :)

Hankins was a good signing. We needed him. I hope he's back and healthy for the playoffs.

He's the kind of guy I'd love to find in the draft, too.

At this point, it doesn’t matter much. We win one, you’re locked in as a 5 seed. We would need to lose all 4 and Washington / Seattle to win out to pass us to get the 5. At this point, SF may pass Minnesota for the 2 so it’s not the end of the world. You never want to lose out. They realistically don’t have a chance to catch Philly. They play the Bears who are eliminated, Dallas, Saints who will be eliminated and the Giants likely playing for their playoff life. No chance NY will take out Philly if they are playing for the 1 seed.

Until Philly clinches the NFC East Cowboys need to continue to apply the pressure. I agree Philly will be favored in all those games but it takes 1 slips up, 1 bad game. Bears are eliminated yes they have nothing to lose and with Fields ability to run and passing improving you take a game for granted and Philly could lose.

Oh I’m not saying give up or don’t think we cannot get it. Just meaning more so it’s not a full blown panic if we lose those games

For a team that has run defense issues, this is a major problem.
- Bohanna has not delivered yet as a premiere quality run stuffer.
- Watkins is JAG,
- Gallimore flashes once every blue moon.
- Osa came up big vs Texans, but he can be up & down vs run.
- Gholston was actually made inactive vs Texas; that does not speak highly of his value.

- And we were already having shaky issues with edge run containment.- now its looking very cloudy with Armstrong's availability.(foot)
- I like Williams and Fowler vs pass, but i'm still skeptical about their run defense.

No but I would like to see this team starting to play their best ball heading into post season. This past Sunday game was not it, they played sloppy ball. Right now Cowboys need to focus on the Cowboys, if this team can get out there and execute to their ability I like our chances no matter who they play.

We need 2 wins or 1 win and loss each by NYG, Washington, Seattle to secure the 5th seed in the playoffs.
1 of those will be next week between Washington and NYG.

Win next week and I believe that clinches a playoff spot. If we aren't winning the division, which looks doubtful. Then at least secure the 5th seed, then rest players if Eagles clinch the NFCE.
Still come down to that Eagles game.

see his words carefully. He said, "you can see Johnathan back for the playoffs." This is not a definitive statement he will be back. The Cowboys are always overly optimistic about plyer injuries and rarely accurate. I assume we can also see Hankins miss the rest of the year.

But one thing Hankins has done in Dallas is show how important the need for a bit strong interior DL is.

Also could be determined by whether Dallas makes it far enough for him to come back in the playoffs

Yes, win next week and they clinch a playoff spot as long as NY and Washington don't tie again. Given Seattle's schedule, they have the 49ers next week, then KC in KC, the Jets and Rams, I think Seattle is going to struggle to get to 10 wins. If the Cowboys get to 11 wins only 1 of Washington and NY can get to 11, and Seattle can get to 11. But honestly given their schedules, Washington and Seattle have to play the 49ers. The Giants have Minnesota. I don't see any of these teams winning out.

I'd like to see Dallas win out and go into the playoffs on a high not, but I would rather they not limp into the playoffs with more injuries than they already have.
