Wilson & Cooks. Just too many holes on the roster going into the offseason to go all in on one big money player.

The flip side of this though is that while the Hargrave contract is going to be rough on SF in a couple of years his cap hit for 2023 is only $6M. If Jerry really wanted to do an all in year the Cowboys could have made all three work, especially since Cooks is really only a 1 year commitment.

I’m taking hargrave and our biggest hole is filled for years. Our defense is now on par with SF.

wilson is a luxury we could replace. Cooks I like but with this team running more a cheaper veteran would suffice.

there is also the possibility we take a te high in the draft.

Basically same money spent. Who would you rather have signed?

just hargrave or the other 2?
Easy. Wilson and Cooks. Fills 2 needs.

Hargrave plays 3T which isn't the problem for our D. Odigizuwa is pretty good and continue to develop. This DL needs a DT1 not another DT3.

I can agree w/ that.

I'm torn, but again, people do not understand just how much difference a pocket disrupting DT makes.

We have yet another example from this past year. Cincy. W/ Larry Ogunjobi inside, the Bengals harrassed Mahomes into 3 pts in the 2nd half in 2021. They let him walk in the off. In 2022...........they didn't. They couldn't get to Mahomes. Caused them to lose. One player, a disruptive 3 tech, quite simply made that much difference.

Does anyone know what it will take to sign Robinson? I don't think he's signed with the Giants yet.

I've actually been wondering if he'd be better as a D3. Philly's biggest weakness on D is that they couldn't stop the run. 16th. They had two pass rushing types at DT. Hargrave had double digit sacks.

Yup, I'd take Hargrave and then also draft a NT to rotate with him.

Good topic.

I’d go with Wilson/Cooks.

Even though it’s actually only a 2/40 fully guaranteed for Hargrave, that’s still a LOT for him, and I don’t blame the team for not doing it.

Would have been nice if he went somewhere other than he actually did, but oh well.

Problem is, it appears that they are going to count on the draft yet again to fill DT, and it’s more than likely going to remain a problem in 2023.

Can't say I would be disappointed if they had gone that route. You're right in that Hargrave would give this team an instant preseason top 2 defense. They could also have signed a lower dollar WR as long as they didnt go James Washington type of bargain shopping. The spot where I'll disagree with you is that I think Wilson is a bigger piece of this defense than what you give him credit for. The 3 safety look has become key for this defense and after adding Gilmore I think its smart to have the rest of the secondary as tight as possible. This could be a special unit as is.

It's really do you want the Corvette or do you want the Camero with some extra cash for add ons. One is sexier but costs more and is going to depreciate in value quicker. The other safer and affordable in the long run.

Wilson had tons of tackles because the line didn’t do their job in the run game. Hargrave solves that.
