So, this thread is rather late, I should have posted it a week ago.

But, anyhow - it feels to me that the fierceness of the Cowboys vs. (R-word) rivalry has been ruined. The changed uniforms, name, logo, etc. has all rather doused the flames and it's like we're playing a whole different opponent and the history was severed.

Sure, I'll dislike them just because they're a divisional foe, but otherwise I feel no more antipathy towards them than if, say, the
Baltimore Ravens were moved into the NFC East and were a team Dallas had to play 2x a year.

The name didn't change. Not as far as I'm concerned. Native Americans are proud of their skin, to the point that if someone leaves their culture, they call them apples.... red on the outside, white on the inside.

Native Americans don't need any of us to feel guilty for them. And, for the most part, they wish Washington didn't change the name, it was a symbol of honor.

If Snyder had a clue about marketing, they would have changed the name to the Washington Hogs.
The fan base would have immediately embraced the name and would have been perfect respect for the historical perspective.
Could have sold millions of original Hoglet shirts and merch.
Even at the stadium..
Hog Dogs
Hog Beers
Missed the boat on that one Snyder.

Nope. They have sucked for so long that the rivalry died a long time ago. I have really not given a crap about them since the early 90s.

I enjoy watching the Cowboys continually punish them.

No, the name change didn’t affect my feeling much at all. Washington has sucked ever since I’ve been alive. They’ve always been more of an annoyance than an actual threat.

I dislike the Eagles much, much more.

Nah.

They’re ineptitude ruined the rivalry first.

And that’s coming from a fan of a team that hasn’t done anything meaningful in a quarter of a century.

There was a time when I disliked the Wahington team more, but those days are long one.
Eagles hold the 1 spot of bad ill feelings.
Their fan base can never be forgiven.

I became a fan in tbe early 90s and honestly never cared about the divisional rivalries involving the Cowboys. I never even understood why Dallas was in that division until Wikipedia educated me

I cared more about us vs. the Niners or the little love affairs we had with the Bills or the Steelers.

But as far as the Commanders goes, I respected them as an organization, their tradition. Now they are just a clown show with their weird name, stupid fans and hilarious moves like the bench incident or those black alternate jerseys. Don't care about them anymore.

To me they'll always be the Red skins, never should have changed that name in the first place. Commanders, lol. How could that name ever win a competition?

its not the team its the fans

Washington fans if you live by them are VERY cocky and always see themselves as Sb contenders and talk about Dallas more than their own team

but checking the facts they havent won more than 10 games in a season since 91...havent won a playoff game in 17 years....and are one of the worst teams in the league

so no it hasnt changed because again it was more about the fans than the team....idc about the team one way or another only team i dislike is the giants

but washington fan? bottom of the barrell trash

Apparently Stephen Jones hasn’t realized Washington changed their name he’s still calling them the R-word in his radio interviews. The rivalry isn’t the same anymore and it really hasn’t been since the 70s and early 80s. The rivalry was at it’s fever pitch during the early to mid 70s when George Allen was the coach. Fans would be shaking the rafters at RFK Stadium. That was a terrifying place to play if you were the Cowboys. I’ve never seen fans and a team get more fired up for the Cowboys than Washington.
