For me, I'm most excited about the RB room and the CB room. I loved the Zeke matured like he did, but he just didn't have any juice left. Maybe it'll be different for him in NE. But, I'm excited to see Pollard getting the nod. I also think Deuce brings something truly unique and exciting to the game. Luepke...man...I'm still love what a hard-nosed FB used to bring to the game. I'm hoping to see him get a carry or two every game and maybe even a couple of passes. I'm probably least excited about Dowdle. I genuinely hope I'm wrong, but he seems like just-a-guy. How he fares at the RB2 spot will go a long way towards Pollard staying fresh.
As far as CB, Diggs has really grown into the position. I'm hoping he can combine the play of last year with the picks from the year before. And that might be possible with Gilmore on the other side. We haven't had a duo with that kind of skillset since...well...a long, long time. I was super excited to see Deon Sanders and Kevin Smith in the same backfield back in the day. And it lasted no more than one day. A lot of this year's success will depend on how much a 32 year old Gilmore has left in the tank. Add in Bland who looks like an up-and-coming player, and I'm just super excited to see what they can do.
My biggest concern is the O-line. Not the starters. I think we are as good as anyone along the starting o-line. But the depth there is unproven. I think we could do OK with one guy going down. But if two go down, the fall off would be drastic. All of that said, are any NFL teams really deep on the o-line? Could any of them take losing two starters? There are days I think every fan on every team should have concerns about their o-line depth.
What about you? Which position groups are you most excited to see take the field? Any position groups that give you a little more worry?
