Sometime Monday, I accessed a site which allowed this Rowindal.a trojan to infect my laptop.

My virus scanner detected it immediately and the resulting viruses, but not before it sent some porn-linked emails to all my contacts.

I'm horrified, because it accessed my business email and so some pretty important people are getting porn emails.

This is what all I've done...

1) Full scan using Microsoft Security Essentials

2) Full scan using Malwarebytes

3) Full scan using Spybot destroyer...

And they're all coming back clean... And yet I'm still getting notices that these crap-filled emails are being sent.

Can someone help, please?

I have no idea if this will work but have your ISP change your password to the email acct. Maybe all the virus did was get the UN and PW to your email acct.

Interesting... that's what I'll do. Never occurred to me to do that.

Change your password to your e-mail account.

I'm a dummy.

I'm using an old swbell.net extension, I don't know how to change my password to this sub-alias acct.

It allows me to change the password to my primary acct, but not the sub-email of that profile. It used to be so simple, but now I don't know where to look.

*sigh* searching..

Edit: I found the steps. Now I just need to see if that works. Last thing I need is another day of early morning texts/emails/calls from folks about my emails.

Ha! You know the site well, huh? lol

Nah, I was looking up vacation packages and I think that was a sign I should stay at home.

Wait, so that sexy email you sent me wasn't legit? Damn my luck.

She said it was sent to co-workers so now you've completely blown your cover of living on the east coast.

Hey WG. You know that creepy mail guy who sniffs all your outgoing mail?

Curious how it accessed your work e-mail unless you were surfing while at work.

Change your password and your secret questions. I had it happen to me and even after a password change and clear of my cookies and cache and they got back in. I changed my secret questions and password again and secondary email and everything is all good now :)

Never ever use "Save Password" in browsers or anything else for that matter. You are asking for A. forgetting your password, B. having your password stolen, and C. unauthorized access to whatever it is while you are away from the computer.

As noted above, changing your password *might* remedy the problem. They are probably sending the emails from elsewhere. The question is, are they just masquerading as you and using your contact list to send them from an alternate location and mail server.

Nah, it's not my work email.

I'm pretty good with my passwords. I have a set few that I use consistently. This particular password was one of my easier to break and I probably should've changed it awhile ago.

Can you add me to your e-mail contacts so I can receive the porn next time?:lmao2:
