Henry Hill, a soldier in the Luchese organized-crime family whose decision to turn federal informer, and subsequent itinerant life in and out of the federal witness protection program, inspired Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed film “Goodfellas,” died on Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was 69 and had lived openly in Topanga, Calif., in recent years.

Big Pauly is going to be waiting for Henry in hell. :laugh2:

Sadly, as entertaining as the movie was, none of those people appeared to have any redeeming qualities. I read Goodfellas and then another book written by Henry Hill, and the actual story of some of his and his cohorts activities was even worse than portrayed in the movie.

I'm sure that is the case. Movies tend to glorify a bit too much. Bottom line these guys are cold blooded killers. Hill was just a means for the state to put bigger fish away but it does not make Hill a good guy.

Hill lived in my hometown in Nebraska for awhile, which I found hilarious and sad.

Good Fellas is one of my all time favorite movies as well.

Yes the movies make mob guys seem a lot more glorious than they really are. The movies often try and portray it as if these guys are in some way good people and that this is a whole family thing that shouldn't be looked down on.

The fact is all those guys are heartless, soul-less, killers who would likely kill their own mothers if it would make them a profit.

Great movies.

Terrible people.

I agree 100%. I love all the mafia movies, but you have to remind yourself the kind of people these guys really are. Hollywood would lead you to believe that Henry Hill was not that bad of a person.

I def agree - they are the worst kinds of ppl - they are parasites, believe me I know, I grew up around a few of these knucklehead that were loosely connected.

I set up trade show exhibits at the Javits Center and was around back in the 80s when they basically ran the place. I can't tell you all the stories from those animals.

Those POSs like making money off of other ppls sweat.
