I may just stick with the one I have. It's got 135K miles on it, which means it has plenty left. It needs a new transmission, and the only thing I don't like about it is the size. I'll have like $500 left over every month after I pay the note and insurance on this new one. I don't know what to do.

I like the top one. But, I think you said you didn't want a small truck in the last thread. Did that change? The new one may have back seats, but it is essentially the same size truck. Plus, you can get a lot of truck for less then $20K if you are willing to buy used. Also, that truck will get you a monthly payment in the neighborhood of $450-$500, plus insurance. That is a fairly high % of your take home pay right now (based on what you posted in original thread. Yes, you can afford it. But, you may wind up with 70%+ of your income going into car and housing. That doesn't leave much scratch for living expenses.
think about it...
Say that after taxes you have about $2000 per month. $450 for a car, $1000 for rent, $200 for utilities, $100/week for food/groceries/etc... that is already over $2000 & you haven't bought any gas yet. Your numbers may vary, but you get the idea. Just think it through before you buy... I made that mistake one time.

I changed my mind about small trucks.

You're almost right about the note and calculations, but rent is only $615 and I'll be clearing $2300 each month after taxes. I just don't make enough right now to buy something new. The used ones I looked at weren't much cheaper. I'll just stick with what I have until I make more money.

I will make some changes to it. New transmission, replace the cracked dash.

IMO, you should just keep the old one and run it into the ground. Those Toyotas can go a good ways, and the extra 500 bucks would be far better served in something that is an actual investment that yields a return other than a coolness factor. Trucks, definitely are NOT wise investments.

If you're like me, you'll wind up wishing you had something different in 3 years if you bought a new one anyway....save that extra cheese and invest it....and by the time the regular cab Toy expires, you might find you have the loot to get something ******...

On a side note.....since I'm someone that loves a nice vehicle, but usually starts getting complacent with the same one over a 4-5 year period.....should I start looking into leasing? What are the basic pros and cons? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to hijack this thread...

I think I'll run this one into the ground like you said. I just need to make some repairs on it.

Feel free to hijack away.

Get a Titan. You won't regret it.

Unless you actually wanted to buy a truck, that is. ;)

They're great for scoping babes at the mall though. Right Slate?

I think its a sweet ride, but the payments might not be. I guess it depends on how much that extra cash every month would do for you if it wasn't invested in another new ride.

Uh, I wish I knew what that meant.

Whats up with the transmission? Thats really low miles to be having trans problems. Esp with a Toyota.

I almost bought a Tacoma at the end of last year. Really wanted a Tundra, but a little to pricey for me. Ended up going used with a 07 quad cab chevy with really low miles a lot.

I got stuck in the middle of nowhere and stripped the gears

Couldn't get anyone on the phone or anyone in the houses around. Ended up spending the night out there and walking out in the morning.
