I'm an engineer, that means I solve practical problems. But yesterday my friend asked me: what is beauty?

That falls under the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. What do you think?

I am an engineer, too. Not only do I solve problems, but I also try to minimize their occurence.

What is beauty? No one can define it. Just like obscenity, I know it when I see it. And it differs between person and time.

My wife sees beauty in a diamond where I see beauty in a piece of coal.
